Being linked with us £100k loan move not rules out.
According to twitter rumour.
The Herald Scotland saying today that talks are 'on-going' between Utd and Wigan regarding a 6 figure fee.
At last the penny seems to have dropped with Jmac that what we have isn't good enough if we wish to progress.

"DUNDEE UNITED want to sign Billy McKay from Wigan Athletic.
The 26-year-old striker hasn't settled at the Latics since he moved there in January from Inverness Caledonian Thistle and would welcome a move back to the SPFL Premiership.
After selling Nadir Ciftci to Cetic last week for £1.5m, United boss Jackie McNamara is in the market for a proven goalscorer and McKay is the man he wants.
It can be revealed dialogue between the clubs has been ongoing for the past 48 hours and a six-figure transfer fee may well be agreed by the end of the week.
McKay scored more than 50 goals for Caley Thistle and would be confident or reproducing that kind of form at Tannadice.
Getting regular football is high on McKay's agenda as he is involved in the Northern Ireland squad and knows he needs to be playing every week to stay in Michael O'Neill's plans as they head towards the Euro 2016 Finals."
Last paragraph is interesting. Makes sense for him to want to be playing in a league he knows he can score goals in, get a regular start and push for a place in the Northern Ireland squad if they make the Euros.

Sounds promising Zippy, does anyone know how much he went to them for? Was it freedom of contract or did they pay a fee? £100k seems like a lot for a loan for a player they don't require and doesn't want to be there.
He's probably on around £10k a week which will be the major problem, it wasn't insurmountable to getting Goodie back on loan so hopefully isn't this time either.
Last paragraph is great news, NI with a decent chance of qualifying for a tournament for the first time in your life, you're going to want to do everything you can to be a part of that, he's certainly good enough but need to be playing and scoring to be considered.
Fingers crossed for this one.

Cannae believe that's all they paid for him. Surely had a short time to run on his contract? That amount is only about 1.5 of our yearly average player wage per player. Snap him up!

Cheers Fooky, if the only paid £150k for him surely we can give them that back and sign him on a three year deal, rather than a one year loan for £50k less?
I can't see how they can try and make a profit on a player that has deteriorated since they signed him.
As I said earlier, wages will be the problem compared to what he's on now but we can still offer probably double what he was on at ICT.

McKay is the type of boy we have been missing for a good few years now a real fox in the box, hopefully this goes through as him and Rooney (sheep one, no Shrek) have always stuck out to me as out and out strikers.

Wigan have signed a striker today, Will Grigg, Hopefully a good omen...

McKay started and just scored for Wigan against Altrincham.
Left foot strike, top corner from edge of box.

Hmmm would they have played someone who was imminently departing?
Don't like the sound of that.

I think playing him strengthens Wigan's hand, not just the goal but it shows they are going to risk him and not wrap him up in cotton wool pending a transfer.
Tells potential bidders to put up or shut up, just like we did with Andy this time last year.
He played an hour, game finished 1-1.

Rumour two bids been rejected.

That's right enough. Seem to remember him scoring the 1st goal up at Station Park? Think he played all the friendlies except Hibs on the 27th. (but he attended the match). Signed for Hull City on the 29th.
