Mixu Paatelainen

Saw big Mixu down in Burntisland high street today, he used to live in a house just up at the top of Burntisland overlooking the Forth when he managed Cowdenbeath. Cracking house.

Maybe he is back there after his stint with the national team came to an end recently.

Just reminded me what a great player he was for us, I started going to the games in 1990 and he was one of my very first favourites.

Re: Mixu Paatelainen

Love the big man.

When he joined United his digs were my mates house, I was always there on at him about United and he was sound as.

I was in the Main Stand at Tynecastle for the cup semi demolition of the Sheep a few years ago and Mixu was in the row in front of me, I was blootered and before the game started shouting on him about the times he stayed in digs, he came up to me and gave me a big bear hug saying it was the best times of his life at United and he remembered me from the early days.

I was about greetin.

Didn't realise he was out if work... Hmmm.

Alan Main also chucked a used johny at me in the same digs, but that's another chapter.

One of my favourite goals of the 80's that.

I remember the highlights were on really late on STV and i was sent to bed but my auld man said he'd tape it for me.

Must have woke up about 6 in the morning and asked if i could watch it and 'who won?'.He just said 'i'll not tell you but the winner was goal of the season probably'.

Was jumping about the living room after sitting in agony for what seemed like an hour waiting for what i thought would be an Aberdeen winner.

Re: Mixu Paatelainen

I was at that game. I remember Mixu came to my primary school about then when I was in P7. It was like Beatlemania. Back in the day when Utd players were proper heroes.

Too much commotion
