I'd be up for doing this at some point.
Might have an album or two from what has already been chosen, but there's no accounting for good taste amongst us Arabs. You're on THE LIST Randy.

THE LIST makes it sound quite sordid. Not sure I like that.
You're on THE LIST.

Well done Hunted, really enjoyed reading that and some cracking choices
And BTW Tek thanks for throwing a spanner in the works, I thought it was going to be 8 tracks and kind of narrowed it down to 50 only to find the Tek twist that it's albums, back to square one
I think I'm going to enjoy these Sunday nights, and should be available for selection from next week High standards to meet Hunted, once again well done sir

I asked TEK if it was tracks or albums.
Obviously cannae get Radio 4 in the West ;)

TBH though I could have picked The Queen Is Dead and put at least another 20 albums easy

DTRA.
Listened to my first Desert Island Discs podcast today. Was Russell Brand, actually a very good listen.
I thought 8 songs was maybe just a bit too difficult for some of the boys on here to narrow down.Few big music fans on here,(i'd struggle to name my top 8 Beatles tracks for instance).
So i decided to go with albums mate.
That's why i added on the 'what song would you like to watch the sunset for the final time' question. So everybody at least gets to include a song that means a lot to them.(a great fucking question IMO...Radio 4 should use that ).
If,however, people think i should stick stringently with the original format,i am (as ever) happy to go with what the majority decide.
There is also the option of making the weekly DID thread live (so like a Q+A).Or i can just write out a set of questions as i did today and the recipient answers them in their own time.
It's in it's first week so i'm open as to how it could be evolved.

Agree with all your sentiments above DTRA. It's the back of 0120 hrs and since getting handed the baton fae Hunted a few hours back, I have sat down and gone through my entire iTunes collection (I must have about 1,000 CDs and I only bought an iPod last year at the ripe old age of 49.5!!!).
I'd say 8 albums are a stick on for me and I've been chopping and changing with numbers 9 and 10; but that's me settled now (I think) on the 10 but it was Foo Kin Hard for a Foo Kin Twat like me! TQID is also my favourite Smiths studio album and is a possible duplicate, that's my only teaser! Away to my scratcher now, but I probably winna be able to sleep, as I have also chosen my funeral song. But what happens if I don't survive til next Sunday? No-one will know what my funeral song is and Hunted will suggest an Erasure track instead??? Oh no, worry worry worry!!! "How does the man who drives the snowplough get to his work in the morning? I worry about the strangest things!!!" Copyright Billy Connolly
Night night all
Edit = and by ALL I only mean TEK who is still up too IC now!!!

I liked the format last night, I was just laughing about the twist with the albums
For me Questions in advance all day long, the reason being is I'm not to fast on the old keyboards mate , we didn't have computers when I was at school in fact caculators were the latest thing, so advance warning works for me
Keep up the good work

I think you should stick with albums, and have the set questions in advance with maybe one question that is tailored to the 'castaway'. E.G for Macho you could include what favourite wrestling theme tune he could choose for his exit from the island, or for Hunted, retrospectively now, what serial killer would you liked to have met on the island?

I think the format is fine as well. Already got the Q&A thing

FAF Hunted, imagine Siebby thinking you'd trade your beloved toaster for a pair of running shoes???!!!
TEK - as Hunted has done albums, let's leave it at that for this close season; and next close season we could mibbe dae a Top 20 of individual tracks? As DTRA says, that would allow some prep time, coz Hunted did well at short notice as it isna easy! Let's go for for your set questions as Hunted had and you TEK choose a single different tailored question each week for whoever is up?

Just gonna keep it as is.
Folk can post up their favourite song from the album,or the entire album if they wish (as Hunted did).
Not gonna go down the 'personalise' it route though.
Folks individual personalities should be reflected in their selections and answers anyway.
