bradford city

Season tickets £99 for concessions and £149 for adults sold over 17000.
Very good prices and a great amount sold. Can only be a good thing for the club.

Hopefully more clubs follow on with this.

Extra bums on seats backing the team.

Re: bradford city

Good on them. Anything that gets bums on seats needs applauded.

See if United did this. Say they made it £150 quid for all adults. How many extra season tickets would we sell? I reckon we'd get 6000-6500 tops tbh

Yeah yeah Industrial Estate

Re: bradford city

Yeah it would be good but its hard to judge how many fans would buy them.

Id like to think we could go beyond 7000 at £150 an adult £75 u18

You'd hope so. If I can't make a game though I find it really fucking hard to get someone to take my ticket though.

We need to run the club progressively and break fae the copycat business ideas that fitba entered years ago when it became clear that we had to run things like a business. Copying standard business practices worked for a while.

The recession and TV deals have moved the goalposts. I like yer choice of idea Bowers.

We need to make United for everyone's eyes no matter their wealth and grow the fan base.

Re: bradford city

Same as hunted, often struggle to give my ticket away if I can't make a game.

Re: bradford city

£150 in a oner is still a lot of dough for a lot of families in the city as well. A sizeable chunk of Dundonians don't have a lot of disposable income.

I wouldn't object to paying what I do for my season ticket and them bringing down the entry fee for every game apart from games v Dundee and Sheep tbh.

A lot of folk would though

Re: bradford city

If you make United accessible for everyone who wants to go you'd be surprised at what crowds are possible. In 1989 on the last game of the season I think it was free to get in.  The crowd was around 11500 I'm sure.

Who knows how well that was publicised but gained what it did.  We'd normally have had less than half of that for a pay in game v Hamilton back then.

That was a great gesture and a chance to win over a lot of fans and possibly get them back for the next season

We got beat 1 nil from Hamilton

It was very United

LOL

Some would. A hell of a lot of folk have no access to credit in Dundee though. I'm not trying to put obstacles in way here btw. There is an awful lot of poverty in the city though

If we can find a way for these people to access United the future will be brighter for both.
It's a game that flourished on the back of the people's passion not tofs buying a service like Murdoch  has created.
Fitba and it's success as a social unity is built by people who grasp an outlet for their emotions in a way fitba allows and provides .
We have to find a way to bring it back to the people!

ALL THE PEOPLE!

Re: bradford city

You're talking my language now

Vive le Revolution

I think what I pay for my season ticket is fair. I'd be happy to pay a wee bit more if it meant that the gate prices were lower for those who can't afford season tickets or 20 plus for entry before the kids get in.

However, in the place I work there has been numerous times when kids have been offered free tickets to games. The ones who go to games don't take them because they already have season tickets. The others aren't really interested. You literally cannot give free tickets away

Re: bradford city

It's difficult, sadly there is a whole generation of people who are lost to the game in Scotland now, but would still like to see United try some pricing incentives both for season tickets and individual games.

Those Bradford figures are impressive, but you have to remember that Bradford is in a much more populated area, it's population is on a par with Edinburgh, Dundee is a small place with two teams.

Re: bradford city

Just checked. It's got a population of over half a million.

Do Bradford try to target the large Asian community it has?

Re: bradford city

Your right slateford there is a huge population differance but setting a target of roughly 7500 could be do able we had just over 5500 last season.

They've seemingly tried lots of times but had little or no impact.

Too much commotion

Re: bradford city

Pricing is not really the main issue in keeping crowds down. A lack of competition is. If 5 or 6 clubs had a realisti chance of winning the SPL more people would attend, Fact. Unless Scottish football adopts a model of equal revenue things will continue to get worse.

Re: bradford city

Just read this..

British football fans are "paying up to 10 times more for basic season tickets than their European counterparts," according to John Breslin of the London DAILY MIRROR. The cost of supporting many clubs in Scotland and England is "significantly more
than it is in countries including Spain, Germany and France." Critics have accused football clubs of "pricing ordinary fans out of watching the game they love." Michael Brunskill of the Football Supporters Federation said, "People tell us they have given up their season ticket because it cost too much." While the price of high-end tickets was "broadly comparable" across Europe, Scottish and English clubs charge "considerably more for basic season tickets." For example, in Scotland an adult can buy a standard ticket for £230 ($355) at Inverness Caledonian Thistle, £263 ($406) at Rangers, £265 ($409) at St. Johnstone, £280 ($433) at Hearts and £299 ($462) at Dundee United. The five cheapest adult Premier League season tickets in England are sold by West Ham for £289 ($446), followed by Man City at £299, Aston Villa at £335 ($517), West Brom at £349 ($539) and Leicester at £395 ($610). The situation is in "stark contrast" to Spain, Germany and France. For Barcelona, home to Lionel Messi, adult fans can get a season ticket for just £103 ($159), while Bayern Munich -- where German Thomas Muller plays -- charges just £99 ($153). French club Bordeaux charges from £113 ($175)
