Macho if that sums up the situation what are you suggesting happened to the missing 8 million?
You say everyone knows we are desperate for cash, why them would anybody offer us a million for a player in the last year of his contract?

The basis of my original comment, if you read it again, says that we appear to be distributing cash to everyman and their dog who are due a cut of the transfer fees, which is appearing to amounting to a healthy amount of cash. The club are then left with a significantly smaller amount of money than what the board have been boasting about bringing in. The result is that we have a ridiculously poorer squad left and that we have sold 6 of the better players in Scotland at the time of selling and have only managed to half our approx £4.5m debt when we were led to believe that it was almost going to be wiped out on the back of only Andy Roberston and Ryan Gauld being sold.
I feel like the club has led the support on a bit of a merry dance and are trying to paper over the cracks with wafer thin comments like back to back cup finals (which we lost), three years of Europe in a row and so on.
In my opinion, based on the information I have read on-line and in the papers, we have sold these players allegedly for the benefit of the club, but the club doesn't seem to have benefitted that much in the grand scheme of things and we are now going from a club who was challenging for 2nd in the league and on two cup fronts to a club that looks like a shoe in for bottom six next season.
If you're happy with that, do you want to buy my season ticket from me, because I'm now thinking it's going to be a proper waste of money.

Macho every united supporter wants the team to be the best it can. The level of debt and transfer income can be debated for ever. I would rather we had good young players to watch even if that means they are eventually sold. The Armstrong deal was worth about 30% of our turnover, that is like Celtic getting a £18 million offer for a player ,dont think Lawell would turn that down. Historically the club is going through a very unusual period in recieving so many cash offers.
thanks for your offer of a season ticket however I dont need 2 a poor run of form will not keep me away.

On the subject of Soapy, Is he signing or no?

If a decision had been made that he is to be sold then United would have been touting him around the clubs.
Why no bids?
In fact, quite the opposite. No rumours, no interested parties, nothing re Souttar this close season.
I may well be wrong but I'd guess it's because information goes around behind the scenes in football rapidly. Word is out there that he's definitely staying at Tannadice for the foreseeable future.

It's a bit different from the Ciftci situation in the sense that we would get compensation if he left at the end of the season anyway. There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest out there, yet.
I wouldn't worry about him not signing a new deal at this stage. If he still hasn't signed one by November, then I would.

I'm not contesting the fact we have to sell, I'm pissed off at the amount of players we sold in the last twelve years, the fact we were told we didn't have to sell after Gauld and Robertson, the fact we sold out to our rivals when we challenging them on 3 fronts and the fact we are now a kick in the arse away from selling the last of the family silver but the club have not cleared the debt, even if we do sell Ciftci and Souttar.
I think you're having a different argument from what I'm talking about.

I'm past caring about it. I just want the futba to start so I can start shouting abuse at people from different parts of Scotland

Again, if Souttar says he wants to go, fuck all the club can dae.
People forget that the PLAYER himself, holds all the cards in a situation like this.
Meltdown central if Nads and Souttar go like. . . . Doesna bare thinking aboot.
Silver, dead right that player holds all the cards if he wants to go. But why does he want to go in the first place?
He's 18/19, seen us flog established first team regulars and boys he can look up to/learn from, two of them to a side we were in direct competition with. We're supposed to be this bastion for nurturing young talent... Let me ask ya, if Souttar stays, who is he learning from in the current squad? We can offer him first team football which should carry weight, but I reckon he's looking at the direction/ambition of the club and deciding to forgo his "education" on that basis if he goes.
I'll be proper sick if he goes like more than any other...

Soapy leaving would be a fucking nightmare, but I would still make him see out his contract, it will make a big difference to the team, But also will push up the compo if he goes to the green minks. Playing every week might convince him to stay (Jackie sacked, Cathro in ?)
On a sidenote, my sky just died coz the rain/thunder. Gonna change.
