Re: United reject bid for Ciftci

Really Really tough decision for Nads here. . . Mm let me see now. . . . . Wigan Athletic who are a division one side with fuck all prospects, and no one I know plays there.

or.. . . . . . Celtic. A Scottish Premiership side who are in the Champions League, I'll win a league winners medal minimum, and 2 of my buddy's are there. Oh, and my wages will be hu fuckin mongous

Tough decision right enough.

Re: United reject bid for Ciftci

Utd are in a no win situation here. None of us want him to leave, ESPECIALLY to Celtic. But he's stated he wants to go. Absolutely zilch Utd can dae aboot that, nothing at all.

He's going. Get used to the idea that he'll probably be playing against us soon.

The one thing that Utd can do to soften the blow for the fans is to spend some money on a big signing or 2. Failure to put money back in to the playing squad, and I mean decent proven players, will result another meltdown.

Let's see how serious the club is.

Re: United reject bid for Ciftci

It'll make Tannadice a not very nice place to go to.

I have no issue with selling Ciftci tbh. He's going to miss a fair chunk of season in any case. If we get 7 figures then that's good business.

Club needs to unveil a few gems though to appease fans.

To sell a player here and there is fine. To potentially sell 6 of our better players within a year is ridiculous.

I don't think anyone would want to lose that number in a short period of time.

It begs the question though, which of those (Gauld, Robertson, GMS, Armstrong and Ciftci) would you have knocked back?

Re: United reject bid for Ciftci

Lets face it, even if we do manage to sqeeze a million out of Celtic and he goes there (which looks inevitable); none of the money left over after Ciftci, agents, the taxman and JMAC and his cronies take their cut (say half a million left at a push) will be reinvested in the team.  What is left over will be paid to the soft loanees.

This is seemingly what happened when Fran and Anna left even though the soft loanees said there was no need to give them a big wedge since the deal included a repayment plan over a number of years.  However, Thompson is obsessed with clearing the debt as quickly as possible. Probably so the club looks more attractive to potential buyers.

What is the point of paying off your mortgage if you can't put food on the table?

Happy days.

Re: United reject bid for Ciftci

I'd have worried a bit about Nadir's metal health if he had chosen Wigan over Celtic. Now he knows Celtic are interested, I would be surprised if he ended up anywhere else.

Unless the board decide they are not selling to Celtic at any price, in which case, good luck explaining that one to the player...

Re: United reject bid for Ciftci

I think the chairman has already said he won't be selling to Celtic. I welcome it, but it's an interesting route to go down. Like you say, if Celtic and Wigan are Ciftci's only choices, how do you sell that to him?

I think the club will get other offers for him however. We'll just have to hope one of them is good enough to turn Ciftci's head away from Glasgow.

The Ajax rumour isn't going away...

Not so sure reducing the debt is to do with selling.

The club is currently loss making  excluding exceptionals (ie transfers) so what happens if, come payment time, we've not got any syllable playing assets?

Better to reduce the loan now rather than wonder where we're gonna get £369,250 on 6th February 2016.

Celtic bound no doubt about it.

I love watching United on arabzone...

Re: United reject bid for Ciftci

If Ajax are in anyway interested I hope they reveal their hand very quickly as it's seeming depressingly likely he's Parkhead bound.

Re: United reject bid for Ciftci

Just posted that on Twitter.

That is despite him saying on Arabzone 5/6 weeks to Joe Rice that he was looking to strengthen and had 'areas he wanted to strengthen' or words to that effect.

He also said in the Daily Record dated May 25th he wanted the squad to come back 'stronger' and that Nadir Ciftci was influential to the success of the team and the club'.

Now even probably minus him,Fojut,Rado and Butcher he's happy to go with the squad.

I have no trust in the man.He seems to contradict himself constantly and has no real plan for taking us forward.

"winging it" I believe is the term.
