My mindset is that come the end of this transfer window, Soapy will only be with us if he has been loaned back to us. What he is worth and what a tribunal would set his worth at are two completely different entities.
But surely tae feck, once Soapy goes, we have reached ground zero as far as debt, losing players etc is all concerned and it's a clean slate?
And whatever 5 year plan we are working to should be scrapped and a new rolling 5 year one should be started with immediate effect (as IMO it's fair enough to have a fixed 5-year plan to take you short/medium term, but in business things constantly change, so you need to build in flexibility).
The only thing we as Supporters care about is the team on the park and who's coming through. So IMO the heart of the plan should be 2 years out contracts are renegotiated. Players you want to keep that will not sign, you sell them there and then or 18 months out at worst. As we have all seen, contracts are totally flexible, so you can have anything you want in them. And we budget for 7,000 crowds; a top 6 finish and quarter finals in both cups. That's not lack of ambition, it's called pishing with the cock you have. You adopt the motto "under estimate and over achieve" - that way everyone should be happy and the Club properly run.
But this wall of silence from the Club is killing the support and setting supporter against supporter, which is no good for anyone. So if anyone in power at Tannadice reads this, how do you think things would go if we did the same and just sat in our seats in silence watching the games?

agree with the above post, I regularly get told in my work "plans are all well and good, but what are you doing right now to prove you are the right man for the job and we are moving in the right direction?"
at the moment all we are doing is selling players and ignoring the product on the park, relying on supporters loyalty to keep the business going. this cannot continue.
suggestions to rebuild things would be for the chairman/directors to restart dialogue with key supporters groups about how the club is run and the decision making process.
for the manager, changing the formation as 4-2-3-1 doesn't work without the players we have lost, and sign a goalkeeper right away

I cannot argue that that's the glass half empty view mate.
But there's a whole month of water to go under the Tannadice Street bridge yet. "Fools and bairns shouldna see things half done" as the saying goes (and you know I'm not accusing you of being either!)
IMO we had to move out your Fojuts and Ciftis first, so that is happening, and happening early, which is good, so I'll reserve judgement until at least the first quarter of the season to see what happens. There are hundreds of futba players in the World, we just need to find the right ones!
But that does not in any way excuse the wall of silence from Tannadice.

Getting a bit hacked off with all this tbh...
We've seen a host of players leave with 1 come in. The one that's come in has NO top level experience and must be a dammed site cheaper than fojut.
There's still no snifter of a keeper coming in. There's no sign of a few experienced players coming in and we can't seemingly convince one of the best talents we've seen come through the youth system in years that tannadice is the place to learn your trade.
Surely to god we needed 'something' from United to get us up for the new season.
Is jackie genuinely happy with the squad? Does ST, if hes even considered united in the last few months, think that we can compete for top 6?
Even if we signed a decent keeper, we will struggle for top 6.

There is plenty time for us to bring in players
However players are getting picked up from coubs left right and centre. We need to ship before we sign. I think we will see souttar and ciftci go along with maybe another 1 or 2. Who the others are im not sure but id rather we got this all.sorted pronto.

I'm with you there that it needs done pronto and I'd say by mid July, without being knee jerk, as I saw precious little evidence with our coaching/defending in the last 18 months that a fortnight is enough time to drill into the players what is expected/required of them as SPFL players.
But if we can somehow find a way of stopping the constant goals we concede (IMO by signing an experienced goalie and centre half that will be fit enough to play 90% of our games) AND we play a different system, there's no need to hit the panic button just yet!

Its unsettling for the clubs as a whole the impact of loosing players and not replacing properly is affecting the players left and the fans.
Wonder if anything will come of the keeper thats just left bournemouth? That was mentioned couple weeks back players back today so he may be there for trial.

He's the standard (of experience) we should be looking at mate for the spine of the team
(footballer)
But he is likely to be on a different planet pay packet wise as we're shopping in the futba equivalent of Home Bargains, Primark and Poundland !!!

Again, if Souttar says he wants to go, fuck all the club can dae.
People forget that the PLAYER himself, holds all the cards in a situation like this.
Meltdown central if Nads and Souttar go like. . . . Doesna bare thinking aboot.

I've heard that he has turned down our offer of a new contract. Whether an improved contract offer will be made or not, I don't know.
If the above is true and we don't offer him an improved deal, he'll be away before the end of the transfer window. Probably lucky to get £1m as everyone knows how fucking desperate we are for cash thanks to this amazing bit of business that the board have come up with to distribute the wealth amongst the bottom feeders of Scottish football before the club benefits or see's any of the cash from the deal.
If we get £1m each for Ciftci and Souttar I wouldn't be surprised if we will only reduce the soft loans by a further £500k max meaning we are still £1.5m in debt (from an original £4.5m debt, despite selling Andy Roberston, Ryan Gauld, GMS, Armstrong, Russell, Ciftci, Souttar over short period of time for what could be a total of £11m. £11m sales to pay off £3m debt? Wow.... just wow.
Could this be the biggests arse collapse in the history of arse collapsing, and yes I include Joanna Lumley in that.

The deal on the table for Souttar should be absolutely the best we can possibly offer, and then more, espescially if Ciftci goes.
Souttar goes aswell we are in real trouble.

Much has been said and made of the various 10%s of the pie that have been consumed by various parties with the end result that United are left with the remaining crumbs of the pie. So assuming Cifti goes, I ask this question to all on here..........
If Soapy was to be made our highest earner getting parity with whoever that currently is when Cifti goes (and whatever that wage is) AND he signed an 18 or 30 month deal on top of his current one with an agreement he is sold next summer AND he gets a %age of the fee.......would you be happy with that and what's the maximum %age you would be happy with?

Yes & 20% is the max that should be offered to any player. We'd still need to sell him next year if the money was the priority, but I'd be happy if he signed a deal for another 2 years and he moved on after that for whatever the development fee would be only. Rather have him on the pitch.

10%.
The club needs to be making the most money possible on player sales
With 30% to nadir and the rest to the 3 muskateers etc we will looking at getting say 40%-50% off the fee paid.
Players will get a cut of transfers thats fair enough but IMO 30% to any player signing for us is way more than we ahould be agreeing to. That was obviously his/agent request for that or he wasnt signing but to me its way to much.

Problem being here is that are these figures he throws around when sales are made not inc add ons?
Goodwillie how much did we actually get? Wasnt this alot less than the £2.8m reported?(sure that was the fee)
Russell?
Gauld?
Robertson?
Gms?
Armstrong?
Its nae use whatsoever to us our chairman saying we get x amount when its 500k/700k/1m less before add ons as there a major gamble.

I'm not denying the speculation, but the basis of the post pretty much sum the situation up. No?
