Any posters from 'mad' inparticular that are to blame ?

I really don't want to see us go down this road tbh.

People naming other posters who they reckon are ruining the board etc.

Absolutely no good can come of it.

Stobie has decided to no longer post,he's said goodbye..everyone has had their chance to have their say,and i'll try to take on board peoples opinions. For my part i've stated in some capacity my concerns and why i made the decision to just moderate the board myself again for awhile.

People can continue to ask me anything they want regards the Forum via PM and i will reply to them.

Hopefully the board will get back to the largely harmonious place it was 6 months ago.

OK leaving myself open for attack here as a complete newcomer to this website...so apologies in advance, I may be talking shite...however...whats new?

I like the website so far and appreciate TEKs ambition to keep the recent "disagreements" out the forum...however...from what I have seen its not really being applied across the board...the other day a thread was closed because it was attacking the Fed and AT...and today on about two other threads he nipped it in the bud when it looked likely to go that way...which as I said is fine...if thats what you are aiming for...good moderating....
Now...but...
Today and every day since I joined on a number of threads people have had numerous digs at ST and JM...some of them really really childish and petty..I could if i was bothered go and find them, but they have been along the lines of..."I wonder if JM will get a cut of that"...or "he wouldnt sign him as there would be no sell on bonus" etc, etc...and these comments never seem to be nipped in the bud, and they are from the very people who have made the statements and posts condemning the club...so from my perspective it would appear that TEK's uderstanding of what is an inflamitory statement seems to be very lopsided.

As i said, i may have got the wrong end of the stick as a complete newbie, if i have i apologise but from what i have sen so far I can totally see where Stobie is coming from.
However in the spirit of the website this will be my only comment on it and I will not get into a tit for tat, but will just comment in future on other things

A fair post but will try to explain one or two things as best as i can.

A lot of the recent problems have been to do with a school of thought that this place is 'going the way of Utd Mad'.I really dispute that.I know there are certain posters on here who all know each other from that site and i think recently some old grievances are starting to unfortunately surface.

I said from day one of this place ALL opinions would be welcomed no matter how strong they are aslong as there was no personal abuse given or someone was constantly undermining someone else's posts (as i had witnessed happening on Mad latterly with certain posters).

I also said there would be a clean slate given to everyone and i would be a hypocrite to do anything otherwise.

To give you all an example of why this is a good idea i often crossed swords with Leedsy on Mad and when he signed up here i was surprised and a wee bit apprehensive that those old grievances would perhaps resurface.Ken what?he's been absolutely first class on here and i've ended up really warming to him and now enjoy his posts.

It proved to me that the 'clean slate' approach was the best way to go,and that perhaps a different enviroment could cast certain posters in a different light.

In answer to one of your points GG about why did i turn a blind eye to posts about McNamara taking a cut or ST being in Oz.Simply because it was free speech. It has 'Unofficial' at the top of the Board and that's what the site is.To censor that would be trying to quash certain supporters feelings.

I never locked the thread recently btw because it was 'anti-Fed or AT' per se.I have no allegiance to either organisation and as such people can say what they like about them for all i care.I locked it because some posters were getting a wee bitty too personal and i felt it would just esculate and everyone could do with 'cooling off' for the night.I have only locked two threads in a year.So this is not normal practice on here at all.

It's not so much peoples opinions positive or negative that has been the problem for me recently, more the fact that certain posts have had an element of 'wanting a bite' or being just a bit too confrontational.

As for me and Stobie there's no bad blood there (on my part anyway) and if we were a band i think the term would be simply 'artistic differences'.As i said to him i do hope he continues to post on here, and i mean that. But i can understand him perhaps not wanting to also. But he'll always be welcome back with open arms at anytime.

First person to sign-up on here was the Vulture. You don't forget things like that.

Cheers for the answer TEK...agree with a lot of what you say, and absolutely for free speech, and DEFINITELY dont want it to go the way of Mad which i mostly avoid now...I have only one thing i want to raise though about your explanation, and that is the point about the "digs"...I have absolutely no problem about people expressing their opinion about ST and JM.  I might not agree but that was not the point I was making.

The point was, that the cheap digs were on threads which had nothing to do with ST or JM...but were on threads about signing players etc,.by certain posters who did it continuously whenever they could, but were done so unchecked...is it surprising then that people who disagree with this respond in kind?

I think the point Stobie was making and certainly the point i was making was that if people constantly twist every discussion to a dig at ST and JM its hardly surprising if people who disagree have a go back at them?
Anyway I am aware I said i wouldnt post any more on this but clearly I have...so I'll leave it at that

Edited to say...as a newbie I didnt realise there was a second page to this...read it now and agree its best to leave it now as I am aware that by constantly harping back to it i become part of the problem rather than the solution...I look forward to taking part in a board that is nothing like Mad....

Re: ciao for now

Might take a take 2 or 2 to realise and not to react bud as some posters passionate about talking about Dundee United have been dragged into disparity online.
We are really looking in to satisfy our Shedboy cravings and few on here care for arguing and point scoring.
Easy to get caught up in the shit that's ruined mad because we are here through a passion and a unity that's threatened by in fighting.
Let's self police this caper and give Tek and co some backup without lowering the tone.

Great post Arabnophobia, particularly the last part. Lets give Tek a break or help out a little, we are all adults on here and we should know when too far is too far without having to wait for a Mod to step in.

If not then politely suggest to them that it might be time to stop the debate/discussion and chill out for a bit.

If people are trolling or craving for an arguement then there are plenty of different places to go, this forum is definitely not meant for them. If people want a healthy debate with a more relaxed approach and plenty off topic stuff then this might be a good fit for them.

Plenty of other forums to choose from, all with different vibes and atmosphere, Tek has created this one and personally it suits me just fine. I don't care much for the mudslinging and infighting of other places and I will try my best to help stop it happening on here. But like the chief wisely told me, everyone that comes on here starts with a clean slate no matter their 'reputation'. That's fair in my book.

If we act like grown ups then we will get treated like grown ups...
