get the full backs forward pinging bahs in with soapy dropping back when they do...hate this one up top pish with a passion....

People are moaning about the squad for next season yet Stobie's put together a great looking team without even putting our best player in...

That team excites me. Outwith that, we'd have a bench of Szromnik, Dillon, Spittal, Connolly, Johnson, Paton, Fraser.

Take a striker out for a midfielder with Soapy dropping back to sweeper and that team easily converts into a 3-5-2 as well.

....And Dowser. Would have him ahead of Anier imo

Edit to say not that I'm doubting Anier's potential. I still have hope that something will click with him.

Add in Spittal, Erskine Johnston, Dillon, Paton, Smith, Spark, Ciftci, Coote and 2-3 more new signings. Get them fit, organised and motivated and its certainly a top 6 team. Very much a new team but potential is there.

Too much commotion

Hard to argue when you look at it and see the potential. Three keys words you said there LAO, Fit, Organised and Motivated. If we could get a solid dependable keeper in and all those things click we have a very promising squad indeed.

I'm keeping the faith

Hopefully Johnston offers us a bit of width and Fraser and particularly Telfer offer us creativity. These are still just youngsters though and won't be able to do it consistently over a season. So I agree we need at least one more experienced creative player as well.

Perfect indeedy bud.

Got a good feeling about this lad.

Another 2, possibly 3 signings and I'll be happy enough.

The more I think about it, the more I want wee Scott McDonald. I wonder if he's even in Jackies thoughts eh.

Re: signing today

I think mention should also be given to Simon Murray for next season. He is able to run, something we have been a bit short of since Feb 1st.

Re: signing today

Re width it depends on the system. Any time the team have played good stuff under Jackie, it's rarely been with touchline huggers. GMS tended to play on the right and cut in. It was Robertson who patrolled the left.

Once Dicker gets back to his best (and he was getting there towards the end of the season) we'll see him motoring up the flank more and providing extra width.

I'm not sure we'll see much of the lad this season.

Speaking to an Arbroath supporting mate of mine, he reckons Murray is a million miles away from being a Premier league player.

A few cameos though maybe.

Re: signing today

Aye, I wouldn't be expecting too much of Murray just yet.

One for the future I'd have thought.

Re: signing today

Durnan In and Fojut has left the club with immediate effect so

11- OUT
1 - IN

Would still like to see a Goalie, and proper competition for Dixon at LB who on last seasons form shouldn't just walk into the team.

And if Ciftci departs i'd like a forward in.But we'll need to hang fire on that one for the moment i think.

Agree with others about Mcdonald being an option.

when i mentioned we had 25 first team players still signed, it was said there's a good few kids....ALL those kids have 1st team experiance....imo we canna keep dropping this '11 out 1 in' like there's been a drastic cull...more than half of them were proper kids with nae first team experiance and most of the rest were that far out the picture ralphie milne was mair likely to get a game

murray and fraser are like two new, young signings...and 3 others were bedded in, in january...so imo thats 6 in...6 out.....some kids binned...and some kids will be promoted from the 16s

Re: signing today

Haha that's a fair bit of spin Stobes even for you.

Murray and Fraser haven't played 1 minute of top flight football yet so they'll need time before expecting too much.

We have plenty of kids with potential but the squad lacks experience, and more importantly a couple of leaders.

Re: signing today

Alright guys n gals. Looks like a decent signing,
hope there's more to come. Need a keeper ,
creative midfielder and a striker. Would be
happy enough with that.

Re: signing today

I think to have good squad depth you want 18-20 players that you'd be happy to drop into any game. Then another pool drawn from the U/20s who will push for a place in the squad and/or be drafted in in the event of an injury crisis.

JMac has identified the need for a goalie and a CH recently. With Durnan he seems to have got his CH. So, let's add an unnamed goalie to the list.

Goalie X
Szromnik
McCallum
Dixon
McGowan
Durnan
Morris
Dillon
Souttar
Spittal
Paton
Rankin
Erskine
Dow
Connolly
Johnson
Telfer
Muirhead
Bilate
Anier
Ciftci

That's 21. Add to that,

Spark
Coote
Fraser
Smith
Murray

And probably a few more U/20s that I'm not familiar with or have slipped my mind.

If we could keep Ciftci I'd be happy to stick with what we have.

If we lose Ciftci I'd bring in Camp and Allan.
