Celtic have been given the go ahead to allow safe standing at Celtic Park.

It's a silly question, I know, but will they get permission to use standing areas by the SPFL?
The article does not say.

Excellent news, despite it being Celtic. Hope to see many clubs follow suit.

I remember ST mentioned it back in Feb but, as like i felt at the time, it must of been purely a PR stunt to try and get the fans onside. Would love it to happen at Tannadice

IMO it was a pr stunt but i still hoped at the time it will happen and still do.
Although id much rather see us sign much needed players first before this is installed.
A long way off happening at tannadice imo.

Chairman said in the article that he had the £200,000 to put it in. Like bowers said, I think it was a pr stunt to try to appease fans after them twa leaving.
Safe standing, summer fitba and a beverage or two at the match. We can only dream.....

mon lads..celtic putting a few new seats in means another swording for the chairman?

Not swording him mate. He said in daily record in February he had 200grand to spend on safe standing. He thought it was a great idea and was gonna have a fan survey on it.
Merely saying what our chairman has been quoted as saying. Google it and you'll see.
You've got to admit sometimes he opens his mouth and let's his belly rumble!

I wouldn't mind stand in but I'd rather the 200k was spent on wages tbh

Tbh where i sit now im 2nd row from back 2nd seat in and stand most of time. The stewards have been alot more relaxed with people standing last season i think aswel.

I've had a rake about online and tried to establish a unit price for these, but all I can find is Clubs or Chairman saying it costs £x,000 to install (without any details of how many seats it involves). Can anyone advise, is it £100, £200 or what per railed seat?

Not sure mate in positive ive read/heard that figure for it at tannadice previously when the club said it was a no go due to the cost and that being around £100 per seat. I could be wrong on this but pretty certain.

Ta Bowers! Was gonna try a new thread for season ticket holders to respond to, but I think you can only have one poll question per post, so I'll try it on here and hope it does not get too messy....
Q1. Where's your season ticket in the ground?
Q2. If railed seats were introduced at Tannadice, where should it be - (A) ETL; (B) GFL/ET corner; (C) GFL/Shed corner; or (D) Jerry Kerr?
Q3. If introduced, would you be interested going, wherever it was installed?
Q4. Based on the commercial idea of "buy a brick", would you be prepared to pay (for arguements sake) say £20 per month for 12 months for your own little part of Tannadice, ie you buy a railed seat?
***********************************************************************************************************************
So for me:
Q1. ETL
Q2. (D) Jerry Kerr as it's basically an unused space and I think the added elevation would afford a great perspective with a standing view.
Q3. YES
Q4. YES

Agree with these, providing there's no overzealous stewardship then we can save money standing where we are, the only problem here is having someone behind you who cannot see (we've all had one of those eh!) whereas in a dedicated safe standing section you most likely wouldn't have to accommodate such a complaint. This is not to say that the Club itself couldn't advertise the whole of the ET lower as stand up if you want section prior to supporters paying for a seat. As far as i know Scottish Football is not bound by the law that banned standing areas in the EPL in the first place.
For the sake of a few bruises on my legs from the seats in front this would be the best proposal for me at no extra cost.

Stobs your right read that yest differant rules for english regarding it. Read that yestedday

I think it was £100 a seat as somebody said, and given the 200K comment from ST that would suggest 2,000 seats, which would suggest the ET Lower to me.
Cant imagine it would be the Jerry Kerr, doubt the old stands structure would allow it TBH

The seating in jerry kerr was just replaced a couple seasons back so very much doubt would be that.
sure east stand lower is 1800 seats so figures not too far of if £100 per seat and £200k overall cost.
