What would you do to create it at tannadice?

For a few games it has been good and we all know what it can be like on big games/euro nights it has been class

Those Motherwell guys make a good noise even though there is only a couple of hundred of them. Didn't the club try ogranising a wee section like that though and it's just never taken off?

Bringing back standing would help! Doubt that will ever happen though.

Even Partick Thistle has a section behind the goal at Firhill. Basically the club takes on board what they wanted and said to them. Seem to be allowed to stand without too much interference from stewards seems to be a factor that helps.

There was a group that started but they got it up and running as good as they expected due to a number of reasons.

Motherwell bois for as much stick as they have taken from several other supports do great imo and the appreciation shown to them from the players the past couple of season is good.

slateford i agree on the standing would help improve atmosphere

We got it going to a point but it just died out due to a number of factors. Would love to see it working though and get Tannadice having a decent atmosphere again.

Safe-standing. It would be good to at least see our club persuing it after mentioning they would be keen to re-introduce it.

I think it will be re-introduced eventually, possibly within the next 5 years.

That was nothing but a PR stunt by ST to try and get fans back onside.

Our esteemed Chairman came out the week after the sale of Thelma+Louise and said we were looking into a 'safe-standing' section.

4 months on...absolute silence.

FWIW i think if ever affordable would be a great idea.The disused area between the Shed and Fox would be ideal imo.Though i'm not sure if folk are too soft to stand on an open terrace these days.

For me if we were to have safe standing I'd love to see it in the Shed and United fans back in there.

I think most are aware this is the case, however aside from this it would be good to see the club actively persue it. They are interested in engaging with the fans to get more through the gates and they want to be seen as forward thinking club. The majority of fans want safe standing in a section of their ground; with it being a big issue which will not go away until it's re-introduction it would be good to see the club put their continued support behind the fans for it and engage with campaign groups. I am aware I am moving off-topic, but PR or not, I for one would be appreciative of the club supporting the fans on this front.

The problem is the money for it. the club dont have it to spend on it and this is what the club said it before.

Id love it to be introduced in the lower east stand. Even in the middle section to start with.

Im no arsed...gave up jumping up and doon, shouting and twirling my scarf about 1984......i like the peace and quiet where i sit to watch the match....gonna write a letter to our fantastic chairman to fuck all these noisy cunts off....

This is true, the cost will always be the obstacle if it were to be re-introduced however many years from now. However I don't think this should be the focus at the moment; the argument for safe standing has come on massively in the last 10 years, increased support from clubs will only add to this. From a personal opinion, I would like to see our club to be at the forefront of this.

The atmosphere at Tannadice is dreadful and things need to change. The singing section hasn't taken off yet but with some help then i believe it can work.

The team working really hard and playing well is the best way to create an atmosphere.

The league is stale though. Good performance against Aberdeen, Celtic and Dundee and the crowd and atmosphere is decent IMO. It's quite hard to get 'up' for games v Killie and the like.

Part of problem is seating because you've now got more than a generation of kids, now adults, who are used to sitting and have usually sat with their folks. Whereas before they maybe went with their folks but moved to behind the goals with their mates.

correct, all the big games are half decent..but thats the way its always been...even back in the early 80s games v killie etc were hardly boca v river plate

What helps a good atmosphere is -

A - Alcohol. (Available in the ground too)
B - Bairns (enthusiastic regardless)
C - Allowing the folk keen to chant to congregate together.

D - Standing.
E - Megaphone led chanting.
F - A visual support like the display squad have delivered many times now with spectacular results and full participation. Expanding this to pole flags is a great idea too.

G - Relaxed stewarding.
F - Drum led song starting.

All of the above work well for teams all over the world. We need to attack the idea from all angles and things would improve.
Ignore the negative comments and crack on with what's possible.

Sure there were plenty moaning cunts in Argentina that didnae like ah that paper shite, Turks that hated the flares for being too bright and dangerous, Poles that were annoyed that some dick had a megaphone and even Mexicans wi arthritis that couldnae believe that they had to stand up ah the time to create the wave.

Support the team and fuckin enjoy it. You will when it's well done.

Exactly, the home game the Saturday after we beat Barca was horrific. Wee crowd, windy and cold and nae atmosphere. That's going to happen but if we don't try then things won't improve. The wee games might have an improved atmosphere if we try shit, as might the mid important and big games. Creating a better match day experience is essential to encourage the new and next generations to be passionate about the club and coming back again and again.

Do nothing and watch the crowds fall for sure. Fitba is all about fan involvement, take that away and it's fuckin tennis, rugby or more like a golf watching day oot.

too many people are happy enough to sit on there arse and slate any sort of action from anyone to try and help the atmosphere.
Appreciate that singing chanting waving a flag holding a bit of card throwing a streamer etc isnt for eveyone that enters a football ground

Talk about hitting the nail on the head! Great reasons why it works at other teams. Having somebody playing a drum is a great way to keep everybody in time ( we took the drum to Stranraer and it worked great till people moaned about it ) i think if everybody works together then i think this will be a sucess.
