I think i was 16 years old and St Johnstone had been promoted to oor league around 1990.
I remember stuff spray painted in the center about a battle off Tayside for the 20 somethingth of September a month or two before we played.
After the match we were walking down Victoria Road and the polis were escorting Perth casuals down towards the Wellgate.
All of a sudden they were ambushed from a crowd that ran in from William Street, Wellington Street, Nelson Street, Bonnybank Road and Forebank Road.
The St J's broke the police line only to be very publicly battered in front of me, my wee mate who I'd introduced to fitba that day and the 3 lanes of traffic that had to stop and have Perth heads bashed off their bonnets, doors and windscreens.
Nobody touched us. We stood frozen too the spot watching the mayhem all around.
That was the first for me.

Never been involved in the casual scene or anything, dinna get that one bit, but have seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time a few times!
When I was 17/18 me and my two of my mates were walking back from the game against Hertz, unbeknown to us a car load of Hertz fans had followed us and jumped us when we got to the cremmy in Ardler. One boy managed to land a hook on me but we didn't run and they eventaully jumped in their car and buggered off, very weird.
The relegation game against Aberdeen in 1995 there was that big rammy after the game, again me and my mates got caught right in the middle of that before the polis arrived.
Been another few times, mainly with Rangers (RIP) fans, scummy bastards that they are.
