Premiership Average Wages

This came out last week but I missed it. Apologies if it's already been posted.

Some interesting figures.

Celtic's average weekly wage is higher than the rest of the league combined.

The MLS pay around twice as much in wages as our Premiership, but Celtic pay around double the amount of their biggest club.

Aberdeen average wage is over 60% bigger than United's.

Re: Premiership Average Wages

Very interesting but it's the average wage for all staff rather than playing staff.

Re: Premiership Average Wages

I saw that Celtic had made that point Bugsy.

Any reason why that might tell a different story than if it had been solely playing staff?

I can see why there could be slight variances between clubs. But would it be enough to make a massive difference?

Re: Premiership Average Wages

Don't know for sure, but I would imagine a team like Utd would possibly have a greater proportion of cost for non-playing staff than the likes of Celtic so the overall average would be an overstatement of Utd player's wage and an understatement of Celtic's.

Only an inkling, and it could be the opposite is true.

Re: Premiership Average Wages

Would think regarding Celtics wages the playing staff average would increase significantly when taking non playing staff out of the equation, and even more so when taking youth teams wages out of it too.

The 1st team playing staff average would increase for all teams doing it this way, I think, but would imagine Celtics would be a bigger change due to a larger amount of non playing staff.

No wonder teams can't compete when you look at the cold hard financial facts.

Re: Premiership Average Wages

Kind of looks all in relative comparison to the size of the Club, if Hearts hadn't been in recent financial trouble they would probably have paid more than our weekly average too, if anything i may have expected Aberdeen to shell out more than a grand per week on average. For Celtic to spend X10 is no shock to me and probably no surprise to Luke & Matt either when they headed West. Would have been interesting to see Rangers & Dundee's average though in comparison to the leagues they were in at the time bigger Club's or no
