Blair Spittal

Hats off to the laddie for his performance and goal today.

Just coz Andy Robertson made a seamless transition and some from the lower leagues to the Scottish Premiership and on does not mean that every diamond we seek to polish will glisten immediately.

I reckon Blair with his engine, ability to take a goal etc can be a bit of a James Milner/Billy Kirkwood type of unsung hero for us.

Good performance. I see the Milner/Kirkwood comparison, if you mean he doesn't seem to have a defined position. But we have to mind, it was only Dundee.........

Re: Blair Spittal

Right, left and centre mid and been at right wing back.  Yeah I do mean that Pat and yes, it was only The Fun.

But a couple of games into the season he was already written off and in the crosshairs of some; and he remains in their crosshairs.  That is something that seriously pisses me off following United.  Teenagers need time!

Re: Blair Spittal

Boys got ability, still not sure myself what his best position is, great tackle that led to his goal today.

Re: Blair Spittal

I thought Spittal was poor today in the 1st half. Great tackle though and finish in the early 2nd half. Seen enough this season though to think that he'll turn out to be a decent signing. Good engine. Only a laddie as well. Think that he'd really benefit from a period of just playing in 1 position.

Think he's suffered amongst our support because he's not an attacking type player a la Connolly and Telfer.

Has Connolly offered more to the team this season than Spittal?

Re: Blair Spittal

He did come into the game as it went on.
Think he will come a good player for us but no denying he has been pretty poor at times. Maybe down to the manager though?

Re: Blair Spittal

Just watched the goals on the Zone.

Leading to the pen for the 2nd, top marks to Robbie Muirhead (no for yon hairstyle) but for chasing down their back four whereby McPake had to punt long.  We got a turnover of possession and Robbie then plays in Nads who suckers Konrad into the challenge.

That's the level of commitment and effort I want to see each and every week from guys wearing the famous Safety Orange!

Pretty much agree with all of that, different type of player from Connolly and Telfer but offers a different threat

Re: Blair Spittal

See the look on his face when he scored?

He was fuckin delighted and in the emotional place I love too see Dundee United players.

Re: Blair Spittal

Good finish.

Been a testing first season as a Pro for him.But he's just a young boy and i think there's something there for sure.

Next season and the season after he'll be a handy player for Utd i'm sure.

Re: Blair Spittal

I like Spittal, think he has come on a lot since joining us fae the third division remember.

Took his goal well today, delighted for him and he certainly enjoyed it as much as we did. I think he is going to be a player for us, hopefully our support will cut him some slack and give the lad a chance. He certainly has something I think.

Re: Blair Spittal

I remember Ray Farningham saying he's going to be a right good player before he signed for United and i haven't seen anything since to doubt his judgement.
He'll become even better next season.

Re: Blair Spittal

Great goal today, I rate the laddie and don't  get the crap he gets from certain individuals who seem to forget he's a young laddie in his first season as a pro, I reckon he'll prove them wrong but will they admit it ?  I widny HUD my breath!

We don't give a damn what the others say
We'll cheer on United all the way
For we are the Terrors of Tannadice

Re: Blair Spittal

There's definitely a player there as an attacking mid, but most fans have mainly seen him playing out of position in covering roles.

agree with you on this mate as i said also re the critism he has had it may be the managers fault.

Re: Blair Spittal

Really coming of age now.

When we signed him from QP i remember reading he was a forward. We had seen little evidence of that. But tonight i thought he looked every inch a quality attacking player.

Considering he can also fill-in at RB he is fast becoming an integral part of the Utd side.Really liking him.

Got a terrific touch, showed that again tonight with the 1st goal, now maturing into an all round player, 1st pick in the 3 at the minute.

Re: Blair Spittal

A great performance from the guy. He must have been buzzing until the last kick of the game. Hope he continues his fine form
