dek robbo retiring

At the end of the season Dundee United today announced that Director Derek Robertson will retire from his role as Director at the end of the season. Derek joined the Board in 2002 with the remit of improving the Club’s communications strategy.Dundee United Chairman Stephen Thompson said,“On behalf of everyone at the Club, I would like to thank Derek.  He has been a part of United for a long time and his contribution both as a board member and a supporter has been immense.“We wish him well on his retirement and look forward to seeing him on match days where he’ll no doubt be cheering on the team as usual.”Derek said,“After a period spanning almost 13 years, I feel it is now time to finally step aside and an end of season departure allows plenty of time for alternative planning.“Over the years I have received great friendship and support from within the Club and from within our supporters’ organisations. I wish the Club continued success in the future.”

Is it coincidence or irony that the Communications Director resigns 4 months after the Chairman last communicated with any of us "Minions"; and in doing so we find out our Chairman is in fact still alive with an "Arabest" quote???!!!

Meanwhile, while silence ibounds on Tannadice Street, up here in Aybirdeen, the Sheep are already trying to lay their plans for next season

Either way it's dissapointing to lose such a good Arab from the Board.

Never been introduced to him properly but always had a 'hi' a head nod and smile anytime i seen him at away games. You get to recognise the same faces at away games over the years.

A nice guy.Hope he enjoys his retirement.

Left before and came back again, hope it's another case of deja vu when all the nonsense dies down on board and in the stands, doesn't strike me as the type of person to thrive on the dark side of things imo. All the best in the meantime

Re: dek robbo retiring

I know Derek fairly well. I was involved in researching the family history of the Club's main 2 founders, Pat Reilly and Tom Timmons, at the tail end of last year, and it was Derek who headed up a project. Called at my house and everything, and invited me up to the Board room on a couple of occasions.

Great loss to the Club IMHO.
