I'm hoping someone can settle something for me regarding the pronounciation of the word Liquorice?

My daughters couldn't stop laughing at me when I said  ' Likeris
They said it's pronounced ' likerish''
Maybe it's pronounced differently in ' Doontheroadland ' or it may be that I've been saying it wrong for years
I hope some of the teachers / grammer police / intellectuals who use the board could put me right
