Luggy

Paul Sturrock has left his role as an advisor to Conference side Torquay United after just four days in the job.The former Plymouth boss, 58, was appointed on Sunday after two years out of the game, but has left after being offered a permanent role elsewhere.Sturrock refused to discuss who he is joining when contacted by BBC Sport.

Dare we live in hope?

Re: Luggy

Fucking hope not.  He's the reason we were in fucking debt in the first place.

Too much commotion

Re: Luggy

Top guy, great player, poor manager. Would not want him back in the dugout.

Good luck at Yeovil.

Re: Luggy

Great read and good luck Luggy, liked the bit about walking around the ground with his mates at a game in November at Tannadice

“My four mates said they were crying, the tears were coming down my face as well. It was the best moment ever. It was like a Mexican wave, one boy recognised me and it went like wildfire all the way round. Incredible,” Sturrock says, smiling. “It’s a bit of a shame with the team now, because the players were going: ‘What’s all this clapping for?’ Half of them didn’t know me from Adam. They just saw this fat bastard walking along the track waving at everybody, thinking: ‘Who the fuck’s he?’”

Ralphie's tales about the same evening with all the old heads up the West End were equally entertaining, pity i can't get him to share storys like that on here.
Have tried a few times. He does look in on TT over my shoulder on occasion when in my local wifi spot which just so happens to sell the occasional pint.

Re: Luggy

Would love to get one of the clubs proper legends on here for an evening (Ralphie,Luggy,Heggy,Hamish would be immense).

And i'll keep trying till i get one onboard.

For anyone who missed it at the time here is the Q+A Luggy done over on Utd Mad last Summer.

Re: Luggy

Brilliant read and well spotted TEK.

I'm just waiting on details for making payment to join the Dundee United Former Players Association and part of the subscription is a Q&A.

Re: Luggy

Looking forward to his book.
This man is unique in many ways. I was inspired as a bairn and still find his outlook, character, personality and humour motivating over all these years.

Plenty bairns looked up to their hero's only to grow up an loose respect.

I've as much respect for Luggy as ever and I'm proud he is shaping himself by being himself over the people he looked up to.

Most managers try to be like the the people they learned the most from and respected.

Oor Luggy has learned, respected and used his life and career experience to help himself whilst retaining what made him who he originally was with his own flavour on the whole shabang!

A very unique Arab to this day!

Good post mate,totally agree.

Think the ill-health he has suffered has given him a great philosophical outlook to his career and life in general.

The respect he continues to show for our club (his club) is so admirable.
