@Saint Ob
It's not just the fact our players are leaving though for me mate.As you say we have seen it several times over the years (to Rangers,Celtic and others) and the club has moved on each time.
But we used to at least see guys at the club for 4 or 5 years though before they moved on.
Now?50 games and some of them are off.The Manager has absolutely no chance to build a squad and the fans have no chance to build a rapport or any real memories of a side.
Souttar has the potential to win 50+Scotland caps imo...been at the club since he was 10,and yet as he's out of contract in a few months will now walk for buttons.
I am so so dissilusioned with things.
I get what you're saying but maybe Souttar has been offered a new deal? Maybe discussions are going on now? Maybe he doesn't want to extend?
We don't know what going on behind scenes. I too an pretty disillusioned at the moment. We can't make players stay nor can we offer wages that even Aberdeen do.
It's a catch 22 situation for club. Give players good deals and incentives to extend whilst trying to balance books and trying to ensure players don't leave for fuck all. While at the same time trying to remain competitive.
Tbf to the chairman he has managed to get the club on a fairly even keel. It fucked our season though.
I don't think we'll ever be in a situation where can turn down decent wedge for our talent but at the end of the day we are the 6th biggest club in a very small country in a piss poor
league. Unfortunately the option is like it or lump it.
It is pretty depressing but at the end of the day it's only a game. It's better than going to IKEA every week'even keel'.
We're having to sell off players every few months to plug pretty massive financial gaps in our accounts.
This way of running the business cannot continue.
Whole club is rudderless.
Tbf I said "fairly" even keel. We are in a better financial situation than we were 2 years ago.

massive financial gaps is a slightly ott statement imho mate...bet they could save 15 grand a week without much chopping and changing..especially if new sponsers are found for the league
people keep going on about the debt not going down massivly...is that not because of a good few payments they've still to recieve?
its the coaching staff getting weighed in and pish tactics that piss me off...not the debt

Priorities are all wrong in my opinion, instead of lobbing bigmoney on 3 year deals on players coming in that no one has even watched. The priority should be players already here, its fukin scandalous that Soutar is only got a year to go nhis contract aged18. Boy is absolute dynamite, although I think a lot of United fans dont even realise it.

Would agree with most of that. Some fans have acted like cunts regarding Souttar. I've heard and read some amount of pish about him in past year. Pretty shocking

Seriously? That's unreal.
Think that might go some way to explaining why he hasn't signed a new deal. Boys were falling over themselves to sign new deals last season. When was the last time United got a good contract extension?
You just wonder if boys have had it with the pelters they're getting from some of the support. There's certainly been previous for it.

Heggy. If what you and hunted are saying, about what folk are saying on Twitter is true m8, then it makes me feel ashamed.

Spot on, best player at the club and it would appear the management dont even realise it, never mind the fans.

Even heard today that up until recently he wasnt getting offered a new deal. That is terrifying

Every day just now I'm hearing a new story out of Tannadice, and each one makes me shake my head. Getting ridiculous the way things are going. I have never been one to call for managers to go, but there has to be change now.

15k a week = 720k hole in finances a year.
Pretty substantial for a small club like Dundee Utd imo.
The new sponsor will be peanuts probably.
2 million for the entire SPFL over two or three seasons or something similar.
We'll be lucky if we have enough left from our cut to send ST to Oz on a 1 way ticket.

It's not just Souttar I've heard fans giving Ciftci shite as well. I know he's infuriating at times but 'GTF you fat cunt' is beyond the pale.
I can't stand some of our support sometimes

15 grand a week...cut back on 1st team, youth team and staff you could half that a piece of piss...fuck we probably pay 15 grand a week on keepers lol

I'm not sure what our overall playing budget is tbh,but i am pretty sure 720k is a pretty substantial amount for us to shave off it.
I'm not sure it would be just that easy.
If we hadn't handed out ridiculous transfer cuts to Jmac and his coaches and took on guys like Southern on a 6 figure wage a year to do ST's job we probably wouldn't even need to have this discussion.

Total wages last year were £3.525M (63% to turnover) but it can't be split between footballing/other.

I strongly suspect the term "soft loan" is an abbreviation for "recovering Eddy Thopmson's financial investment in Dundee United, which his family want back!"
