Is the defence as good as was being portrayed this week ?

Is it infact just as bad as before or was that just a bad bad day at the office ?

I have to say it wasn't just the fact we lost to Celtic, and not even that we lost heavily.Christ that's happened countless times over the past 25 years with better players in the team than we had today too.

The thing that really really really dissapointed me today is we lost the same type of goals WE ALWAYS do to them.I was hoping this new back 4 were tougher, more street wise.

Based on today we were powderpuff tbh.

I don't think Fojut done much wrong tbh.But Morris had a mare and i've said it before on another thread but 5 of the goals come fae oor right hand side.An obvious weak link in the team imo.

Rado just a flapping mess at the moment with every cross. He actually improved his catching at crosses last season.WTF has happened to him ?Tried to punch a couple of crosses today with no Celtic player near him and to compound it made a pretty poor connection both times. His 'slide tackle' clearance at the end just summed up his general level of decision making.

A lot of work needing done on that defence let's not kid ourselves on before we are at a level we wan't to be at i.e. (not bricking it every time the oppo wins a free kick/corner against us).

Over to you Jackie Mac.

or was it just a case of players worth millions are far better at crossing balls and they can put it right on a plate for better player who can time runs and tuck them away?

Re: Is the defence as good as was being portrayed this week ?

Aye maybe.

Certainly the goal Paton was made to look silly was excellent pressing fae their player Johansson. Not the type of forward he'll be up against most weeks, thankfully.

Still think were a better team than what we showed yesterday though.

Losing goals at our front post ?Losing goals to free kicks on the touchline nearly ?

Totally preventable with more orgsnisation/concentration.

Re: Is the defence as good as was being portrayed this week ?

think we can way overhype players we have sometimes and put down the likes of celtic...they finshed over 25 points above the rest last season and every other season...to me that speaks volumes of the difference in quality...Andy robertson was the only player in recent memory who i think will cement a place in a top club...Gauldy and johnny russell have both got it tae

watch the difference in delivery fae the likes of Izaguirre to Keith watson....or the difference in commons to Ryan Dow...

the above mentioned arabs are doing a great job for us, but when those Celtic players tick its very very difficult

The day after the day before - thinking it weas a freak result - every goal was preventable and they'll be working on it this week.

When the fixtures came oot 6 from 9 was a goos start.

Its still that.

Points terms a decent start but Watson and even more Rado were not great v Well - the other goalkeeper from Poland has not been brought here to benchwarm so get him in please!

Only been at the well game, and I said I wasnt convinced, I'm still not, but they have to be given time.

That said I still think when all fit then the defence should be Dillo, Fojut, Souttar, Townsend

They'll not face the quality of Celtic every week. They played well In the opening 2, that's good enough for me.

Re: Is the defence as good as was being portrayed this week ?

Well we've just played arguably the poorest team in the league and they scored 1 (and should have scored 3).

The defending for their goal is shocking.

We are raped down Watson's side with two of their lads in acres of space. The cross is played in and one of their guys should score fae a free header but even though he misses it falls to Jervis who (again) is completely unmarked.

Sorry but the same old deficencies in the back 4 are rearing their old head for me,even this early on.

If Fojut isn't 100% fit he shouldn't play btw.

Still not convinced by them, but it's still early days.

Really hard to judge on yesterday, we switched off second half, mainly because they were so bad first half
