Not sure. There has been so little coming out from clubs that a statement like this is needed (Albeit all we really need to do is oust donkaster and ragen for some change). Could have maybe just waited until the very tail end of the season, but we need more folk within clubs coming out and saying this. Chairmen included.

I agree with him 100%, i think our League set up is ridiculous
And the time of year we play btw
Just an opinion like

Anytime is a good time to argue for a bigger league.

Think a 16 team league would be good. Hope this isn't just getting mooted to get SEVCO promoted though.

That was what I was suggesting: Jackie getting wheeled out to prepare for change. AP McCoy was even questioned about getting Sevco into the top league today down at Ayr.

Doesnt matter what size the league is, it needs to be competitive. 11 teams started a 38 game league this season knowing they wouldnt win it, thats the problem.

Bigger league with every team playing each other team twice would be better for me, but surely that's not possible for next season?
And would the omnipotent old firm go for that, if it eliminated their 4 derbys?

Doesn't matter what size the league is. Celtic will still win it every year for the foreseeable future. When Sevco eventually sort themselves out they'll challenge but I don't think that'll be for at least another 5 years. I think Celtic will win 10 in a row.
The lack of competition is the issue rather size of the league. I'd rather play Dundee, Aberdeen, Hertz and Hibs 4 times than have to go to Dumfries tbh.

I wouldnae.
The leagues been stale for years.
Factor in meeting these teams in the Cup/s and you could be playing them 5 or 6 times a season.Players hate that too.
Nothing wrong with teams like Qots,Falkirk,Morton etc.All have decent core support and all would be a decent away day IMO.
Chairman might not like it right enough.

Simple fact is we'd have a real competitive league without any of the OF.
When's this north atlantic league kicking aff?

Id fancy it but not rushed through this summer to get the rangers up.
Should involve fans opinions on things from the start overhaul the fucking lot.
Online!
I remember reading a while back that the early rounds of the league cup was to be regionalised to save on possible traveling for smaller clubs.
The idea of playing, Arbroath, Forfar, Brechin in a competitive game (or two) every seaon sounds good to me.
This on top of a possible 18 team top flight sounds good to me also, as HBAF says he'd rather play the Fun, Hibs, Hearts and the sheep four times but for every four times you play them you have to play St Midden, Motherwell, Celtic & Sevco, fuck that.
Anyway, an 18 team league will never happen as long as Celtic and Sevco are around as it is ony the thought of them playing each other four times a season that keeps Sky interested.
I'd happily tell all TV companies to fuck off and give football back to the fans who get off their arses and sit in all conditions to follow their teams.

I'd like 16 teams. Play each other twice (30) games then split into two 8's and play each other once. Odd number of games is the only problem.
Actually this could work with 14 teams. Play each other twice (26 games) then a split into top and bottom 7 and play once more (32 games) or you could play twice more (38 games). If you play twice more though you are still playing teams 4 times though which sort of defeats the purpose or reconstruction. An amended League Cup would be better. Home and away ties?

I've always wanted a bigger league just so we don't have to play the likes of killie 4 times and it gives us a better chance of not being relegated next year 😳

The size of the league makes no difference if only two teams can win it. Its now 30 years since a team outside of the bigot brothers won the league, how far does this have to go 40,50,60 years before the fans of the other 40 teams get together and demand change. How about fans refusing to attend bigot brother games while still giving thier gate money to thier clubs. Its time to stand up to these ( insert uncomplimentarty adjective).

Thing is, like it or not, the reality is its not those 2 clubs fault they are successful. The rest of the clubs will never be able to compete financially with them. There are also a number of things that the other clubs along with the SFA/SPL have allowed these 2 clubs to dictate over the years to keep them happy.
What needs to happen is football needs to change, money has killed the game we knew as a sport. I say let the clubs with the money go play together in some sort of european league for smaller countries, while the rest of us get on with fixing scottish football.
No live tv games, Saturday 3pm, reasonable gate prices, drink in parts of the ground, summer football, clubs living within their means and most of all a competitive league clubs can win will get people coming back through the gates.

The shed totally agree with that. however to get that the rest of Scottish football needs to stand up to them. Put forward a set of rules where financial equality, in terms of distribution of cash is at the heart. If they dont agree tell them to GTF. The accumulated debts of the rest of the Spl is as low as its been for 20 yrs now is the time to act or we will continue with or system of "equality" that would make George Osborne blush.

# 1 - Most have already stopped going to Glasgow for away league games. Swerving Tannadice won't help though.
# 2 - Allowing the two Glasgow teams to have rules that support them and all they want won't change unless the people in charge stop bowing to them and their needs.
Shit TV deals, sponsorship deals and a fairer split of them only helps them keep the financial advantage they have in much larger income through crowds and the unfair existing distribution of limited investment there is.
3 # - Naecunt outside Scotland wants them. They have pleaded behind the scenes and through the media for a foster carer and remain the basted son and daughter unadopted.
4 # Brilliant idea (s) , would be what Scottish fitba fans would soak right up but we all know that! The only people who don't are the people who market and police the product. The problem they have is with policing what would be our solution and the concern is again a freakout on the wegie influence on oor bonnie game!

#2, took me couple o' minutes tae find that x and o board.
Spot on with first and second sentences but it's the third that's totally fucked Scottish fitba'.
Self interest and greed allowed 11-1 voting and Setanta deals. The chairmen of provincial clubs could only see the millions, at that time, from TV money but didn't see the unfair distribution of it or the reduced gate money as the weegies can stay in their home pubs to watch non-glory games. With the Setanta bubble, we don't have the millions but have exactly the same downside as before.
Break away for non-OF clubs is the way forward, fuck em they can play each other every week and after a month or two there wouldn't be any of them left.

Ultimately a bigger league might not change anything in regards to who come out on top, but it can potentially stop playing the same team 4 times a season.
It has been a bit tighter this season, but any team not having to play septic and sevco 4 times each season can have a moral boosting effect. The prospect is not quite a daunting and some teams may lift their game that bit more (almost like the cup games effect - not a regular team etc). A step in the right direct I believe, which would hopefully lead to further reforms. I also pray for world peace!
