scooby Davidson is married to the wife's best pal...great lad..thoughts on him and why he never made it after a great start to his Utd career?

Scooby is a great lad and a good player. I remember him getting absolute pelters from our fans after a game against Aberdeen and I don't think that helped his confidence at such a young age. He was brilliant for our youth team and gave absolutely everything.

Telling, the effect some fans can have on their own players.

100% bang on Bugsy, a lesson to all our fans right there eh

Exactly. Not everyone has the mental toughness to thrive on abuse, that's what being a good manager, in any job, is all about. You need to find out what presses their buttons, some people need an arm around their shoulder or a little encouragement, while others respond to a rocket up their backside. It's not always black and white as different circumstances dictate and any decent man manager would know this.

As a collective the fans don't know a player personally, they don't see them in training, with the guys etc, we don't know what makes him tick, but one thing I will not do is boo somebody from my own team. I don't care how bad they are playing, no person out there wants to play a bad game, and even in the unlikely event that they did I am confident that the manager would see this and punt him from the squad immediately.

As fans we have a right to express our opinion yes but at who's detriment, surely they are others way way can do this without shattering a players confidence. And just to finish off with a question, if you played for a football team and things weren't going your way and the fans were giving you pelters every game (and dare I say putting donkey pictures up of you on the Internet  ) how would this affect your confidence and your feelings for the fans and the club?

Like I said, each to their own, I'm not hear to change anybody's mind if that's what they want to do. It's just not something I will ever do.

Great reading through that. Sorry I missed it (again). Seen it got a wee mention on Facebook on Ceres page I think it was.

The point about Davidson, like a few have also noted is very pertinent.

great post and bang on..having spent a fair bit of time in scoobys company and knew him from a young age , it was sad to see someone so talented when he was young, go backwards after getting the treatment from our fans...can only echo exactly what eastie said..he had the lot in his teens, broke into the first team and proved himself well able...then his head went right down

its why i stick up for certain players...especially those that try....lets not make the likes of Blair Spittal be the next scooby eh

Re: Craig Easton Q+A - Thursday 16th April 8.30-9.30pm

Brilliant Q & A well done to all who took the time to participate and especially to those who set it up again.
Craig Easton tenacious wholehearted great wee player on the park and probably the most pleasant player I've banged into off the park. Thank you and good luck lad

Re: Craig Easton Q+A - Thursday 16th April 8.30-9.30pm

Brilliant thread, thanks to Ceres FB page for the link, else never would have known this board existed.

Can only echo above though about the impact fans have on players - sad to think that boo boys/girls at Tannadice were the reason Scooby never made it. This is why I'll never abuse my own team, and I get into arguments with those who sit behind me who do!
