Sporting Integrity & The SPFL

Hibernian and Hearts say the Scottish Professional Football League have compromised "sporting integrity" after promotion rivals Rangers' final game was moved for television coverage. The Glasgow side will play Championship winners Hearts at Tynecastle on 3 May.Hibs and promotion rivals Queen of the South and Falkirk will play on the Saturday, a day earlier. However, the SPFL has hit back saying other clubs have the option of moving their own fixtures to Sunday too. With Hearts having already won the title, the four clubs below are chasing three places in the promotion play-offs.Hibernian chief executive Leeann Dempster said in a club website statement: "In previous seasons, the league has ensured that all of the final-round fixtures are played at the same time."I have been in contact with the SPFL following its announcement that one final round fixture would kick off after all the other results are known."I have reminded them in very clear terms that - as the organiser of the competition - the responsibility for protecting its unimpeachable sporting integrity lies with them."Her counterpart at Tynecastle, Ann Budge, backed up their city rivals' concerns. She said: "When it also became apparent to us that our fixture was the only game to be moved, we were equally alarmed as rightly or wrongly, this casts a shadow over the sporting integrity of the Championship."While it may not be enshrined in the newly merged rule book of the SPFL, it is protocol the football world over for fixtures such as the last day of the Championship to be played simultaneously."To move only one (or even two or four) out of five fixtures would seem to be leaving our game wide open to unsavoury accusations."I will be sending in a formal complaint to the SPFL in relation to this appallingly late decision. It is no wonder that clubs are finding it harder and harder to gain support from their fans when their interests can be so blatantly disregarded, especially at such short notice."

I'd like to say I'm shocked but nothing these cunts do to ingratiate themselves with the ugly sisters suprises me anymore

Re: Sporting Integrity & The SPFL

What we have to hope for is that Hibs get to the cup final.

That way they'll have to extend the playoffs into June and Sevco have LOADS of players out of contract at the end of May.

Chaos

Yeah yeah Industrial Estate

If they were out of contract Sevco could just offer them contracts for another month though (i think).

Re: Sporting Integrity & The SPFL

The SPFL team in the play off will receive 50% of the proceeds from the playoffs between the 5 clubs although this is also being currently debated and reviewed.
If Sevco are quite happy to pay Newcastle/Ashley 500k for the loan player/s if they get promoted then they will find money by hook or by crook to extend any contracts and the SPFL are hardly unlikely to challenge it either even if it is not in the rules

Re: Sporting Integrity & The SPFL

Just sheer and utter incompetence. The man is so enept it beggers belief. Why there has not been a vote of no confidence against him yet I really don't know.

His comeback statement said it all, just passes the buck and basically says "whats the problem" without actually saying it. The problem is you fucking useless cunt is that it shouldn't have happened in the first place - TV or no TV. You cunting imbecile!!!

Re: Sporting Integrity & The SPFL

Yet again they bastards spaek with fork tongue:While regretting any inconvenience to fans, an SPFL spokesman suggested that the circumstances "are in to way unusual"."On this weekend, the Hearts v Rangers match is scheduled for Sunday 3 May to be broadcast on television and it is not clear to us why this has caused so much surprise," he said."This is a key game in the Championship season and will inevitably attract huge interest from fans around the world."It is unreasonable to expect all Championship fixtures that weekend to move to the Sunday when a number of them will be unaffected by the Hearts v Rangers tie."However, as a result of this fixture, all Championship clubs have been invited to submit a request should they wish to move games to the Sunday."To date, the only feedback we have received is from one Championship club, which has asked for its match to remain scheduled for the Saturday."For the avoidance of doubt, we have had no request from Hibernian FC to move its fixture to the Sunday."

Then they say:
SFA chief executive Stewart Regan"In a play-off situation, having games finishing at the same time would be the preferred solution."
And now they have come out with:“Following consultation between the SPFL, member clubs and broadcast partners regarding the final round of Championship fixtures over the weekend of 2 & 3 May 2015, Sky Sports has now suggested an alternative schedule for its televised Championship match that weekend.“As a result, we are pleased to confirm all five Championship matches that weekend will now kick-off simultaneously at 12.15pm on Saturday 2 May. The Hearts v Rangers match will be televised live on Sky Sports.“The SPFL would like to thank Sky Sports for its flexibility and understanding and we’re sure all football fans will look forward to an exciting climax to the Championship season.”=12.8000001907349pxIs there no depth they will sink to to give the Huns an advantage in getting up? Only moved it coz they were called out by the other clubs.

Whankers the lot of them!

Has to go. The final nail in a long and sorry list of catastophies for this utter wank stain!

How do you get a petition started or is there already one on the go?

Re: Sporting Integrity & The SPFL

Its things like this that are the reason crowds are poor.  Just fucking people about, moving fixtures 2 weeks before the game is too late.

Really wish we could tell the tv companies to bolt and go without it.

That and getting rid of the OF would get the crowds back up at every other club, premier league teams because there's a chance of winning the league, lower league teams would benefit from no football on the telly.

Re: Sporting Integrity & The SPFL

By returning the fixture to the Saturday they are basically admitting that this is to ensure 'sporting intergrity', however by involving sky sports in the discussions and only compromising after tv covergage was assured they are admitting that they are really the ones running the show.
Poor stuff yet again from the SFA, i signed a petition months ago calling for Doncaster to resign, dunno how many signatures it got, think we need another one. The man is an empty suit who would happily see the scottish game go to hell if it meant a few extra quid for the SFA and the glasgow giants.

Yes, the ladies running Hibs and Hearts could show many others, including our own, how to stand up to the Glasgow-centric authorities.

This just up on the Hibs site:
http://www.hibernianfc.co.uk/news/5357

Part of the statement:
"Hibernian FC believes a review of the governance of the SPFL is now urgently required to ensure our league competitions are run professionally and with appropriate respect for all member clubs. The way in which the SPFL has communicated with Clubs involved in this situation has been far from acceptable."
