I see united have sacked Derek Souttar after he posted pro-dundee messages on twitter after the derbyb game.
Now, firstly, i reckon hes a bit misguided if he thought this was a good idea but not sure if its a step too far from the club - surely a word in his shell like would have sufficed? I thought it was ridiculous when dundee binned the 2 youths because they went to the final - so would be two-faced if i didn't have concerns for this decision.
Thoughts?

DEREK Soutar last night branded Dundee United “petty” after he was sacked by the club’s youth academy. The 33-year-old, who had two spells as Dundee keeper, had posted social-media support for his old club.Soutar’s dismissal came just hours after his comments following Dundee’s 3-1 derby win over United. But he insists his support of the Dark Blues amounted to banter and says he’s already had messages of support.Soutar – who had been helping out coaching youth academy keepers for more than a year
– said: “It is very petty.“Had the club won last Wednesday, would I have got a phone call? No chance. For folk that really know me to take offence, I can’t believe that.”Soutar, who was at the game on Wednesday night, says he was busy working and unable to take a phone call on Thursday morning. He contacted the senior academy manager Brian Grant that evening and was told United were relieving him of his duties.Soutar said: “I asked why. It was a case of they were going down a different route and also there had been a few complaints regarding posts I had put on social media.“Before the game, I put: ‘Great honour to be in the last team to beat United. Here’s hoping tonight’s team can do the job’.“After it I wrote: ‘What a beautiful Wednesday and If Carlsberg made Wednesday nights, this would be one of them’.“That was it, a bit of banter. There was nothing offensive written.“I have not slated the club. I have never been disrespectful and I have done my best for United and, most of all, the kids.“It’s got out of hand. I wasn’t even spoken to. I was just gone.”
United made no official comment when contacted last night to give their version of events.
But Soutar added: “I have had a great response from the public and a lot of messages from United fans I’ve never met saying it is disgusting the way I have been treated.”
Yet some United fans say Soutar only has himself to blame after the Facebook comments.
Ronnie Clark of supporters club Perth Arabs said: “It’s a foolish and stupid thing he did.
“Gordon Wallace played for both clubs and managed Dundee but never slagged either side.”
It’s the latest controversy to hit United after the bonus row surrounding chairman Stephen Thompson and boss Jackie McNamara.

I think his comments were unprofessional tbh.
Should have known better than too publicly state he hoped his employers would lose.

I Jim Mclean's day the likes of Hamish, walter Smith,Heggy and Luggy would go and take the kids once or twice a week.
Excellent way to start them of in their coaching lives, gave the kids the chance to work with their heroes and it likely saved the club a few pounds over a season.

Christian Daily said the same TEK...great idea and should be part of their working week...which lets face it is very short

when i read the subject, i thought we had sacked hinchcliffe. it would make sense as rado has got a lot worse since steve banks left, and both maccullum and the polish youngster looked like they weren't ready when they were given a chance.

Nothing bothers you though. As long as you can get to the Snug for 4.30pm.
Apart from Paul Paton (my poty+choice of Captain ).
He bothers you.

I would expect to be disciplined were it me publically slagging off the company I work for. Was it petty of United to haul him up - No, was it a touch harsh sacking him- Yes. Apparently though he has had history of it.

Also gives players experience of coaching if they wish to pursue it after their playing career finishes.
I think it's out of order what Souttar did and should've been given a warning. What we don't know, is if he was already on a warning...
His quote doesn't make sense either. He says BG spoke to him and told him exactly why, then he says he wasn't spoken to, just gone.

A fair point. I've secretly been enjoying getting humped so I can get to boozer early.
Paton doesn't bother me. I just think he's not very good.
Bloody captain. That's who it'll be next season too.

As I said earlier I'm not particularly offended or upset by his pish patter but if I went online and slagged my employers I'd lose my job.
Fuck him
