Thank you TEK for starting the artist of the week to be nominated by the poster who was the fan focus on Fridays. TEK has also kindly let me retrospectively nominate, as this new feature was added after my official time on the fan focus was over. Looking forward to Eurobob's on Friday!
I have a few bands that I love that are as diverse as the great many posters on here so I was unsure of who to nominate. I could have went with Beastie Boys, Ben Folds, Public Enemy, Yellowcard (TEK's favourite! lol) or my other favourite band The Smashing Pumpkins. With all that in mind there could only really be one, The Boss.
Born Bruce Fredrick Joseph Springsteen on the 23rd of September 1949 in Long Branch of his beloved New Jersey, having been inspired by Elvis Presley's performance on the Ed Sullivan show in 1956 and growing up on fellow New Jersey native Frank Sinatra on the radio all the time he took a deep intrest in music from a young age.
He started performing in 1965, and 4 years later started playing with a band called Steel Mill, the core members of that band started touring with Bruce and adding new members along the way they dropped the old name and became the E Street Band.
In January 1973 Bruce released his first album with his band called 'Greetings from Asbury Park'. 17 albums, 120 million selling records sold, 20 Grammy awards, 2 Golden Globes and 1 Academy Award later he was inducted in both the Songwriters hall of fame and the Rock and Roll hall of fame.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr Bruce Springsteen...

Bruce has a lot of songs that I could put on the list so I will break it down into decades, and put up the songs that mean the most to myself. Like the great man once said "Everyman's heaven is another man's hell".
1970's...
Honourable mentions: Rosalita (come out tonight), Thunder Road, Jungle Land, Badlands and Racing in the Street.

Trivia questions for you...
Picture of Bruce at the top of the page is one of the outtakes from the Born to Run album cover with his famous saxophonist from the E Street Band. His name should be easy, but what was the 1980's movie that he was in where he was credited as playing one of 'the three most important people in the world'.
Hint: it was the late 80's and the movie was awesome.

I'll give you another clue, the two others who made up 'the three most important people in the world' were Fee Waybill of the Tubes and Martha Davis of the Motels.

Only ever managed to see him the once at Hampden Park back in 2009. Just realised that will be 6 years ago come the summer. Good gig, although I imagine he has had a fair few much better. Still good to see him though, missed out on the last one a few years ago. You don't have get your monies worth with him though.

I was at the 2009 concert as well Hamilton. Was also very lucky to see him at Madison Square Garden 2010, and managed his last one at Hampden in 2013 as well.
All three were amazing, no warm up acts just almost 4 hours of Bruce and the E Street. Even if you don't like his music, or him as a person, you have to admire his work ethic and showmanship with the crowd.
The MSG one was my favourite, only because as a one off he played The River album track for track, which is a double album in itself, then done another 2 hours plus of greatest hits and requests.
