Paddington Bear

A few of the troops on here with wee yins under 10 so this is for THEM before the cynics weigh in (i'm talking to you Saint Obz,Eddy D and Hunted).

I'm normally the parent who is counting the second's during the 'ordeal' of taking their wee yins to the pictures to watch the latest fad.

But i found this a genuinely well written, directed and warm tribute to the original character.Animation is superb, particulary the overhead shots of London.

Both the bairn,me and the missus had a wee chuckle at this once or twice.

Perfect family film to go and see over the festive period.

Re: Paddington Bear

I'm just a year behind, I have two girls aged 4 & 2. I know all of Frozen and Toy Story 3 off by heart! I have taken my oldest to the cinema, but haven't had the guts to take them both yet, i don't think my youngest will sit still for long just now.

Re: Paddington Bear

My wee yins went through the Toy Story phase.

At least they were decent. The end of Toy Story 3 though...tearjerker

Haven't been subjected to Frozen,thankfully.

Re: Paddington Bear

Yeah, my girls are 5 and 3, the boy will be 1 on the 20th of Jan.

Busy, noisy, mental hoose, good times though.

Frozen is the business btw.

Re: Paddington Bear

Frozen is really good, stills holds up on repeat viewing, and the bloody songs are so catchy! Lol.

Toy Story 3 is great, the movies got better with each one. I missed the Shrek and Ice Age movies as they weren't keen on them but I showed them some of my old movies when I was a kid, real hit and miss but they both loved the Goonies and Ghostbusters so I'm pretty happy about that.

My oldest girl has a fascination with Jaws as it is my favourite movie, but there is no chance I'm showing her that until she has at least two digits in her age.

Re: Paddington Bear

I showed my wee yin a clip of Jaws when he was about 3.

The bit the boy shoots the gas cannister intae his mouth and Jaws blows up.

He pished himself laughing.

CHILLING.

Re: Paddington Bear

Just 5 of my 9 Grandchildren are under 10.

Remember going to see Aladdin, featuring my hero Robin Williams, and there was an adult sub-text that I fully appreciated.

Really enjoyed that film.

Watched it in the tiny 2 screen cinema in Dunoon,Argyll whilst on a school break.

And i can remember the exact date,5th April 1994 (though i had to check Arab Archive). Why you ask?

Because whilst enjoying one of Disney's better efforts and getting a teenage 'sugar high' affy Pepsi and Minstrels,my mind kept flitting back and forth fae Aladdin to Tannadice Park. Why you ask, again this time somewhat more intrigued??.

Because Utd were during the course of the film hosting a formidable Rangers side (the proper yins) in a rearranged league fixture that night.Got 'home' to my grand parents holiday house (imagineThe Broons But'n'Ben) to discover somewhat satisfied that we'd kept a clean sheet and drew 0-0.

A Rangers side who we would in just over a months time keep another clean sheet against, this time in Glasgow and in our first ever Scottish Cup Final triumph.

My best mate fae high school (a Hun) was in tow on this family school break so bragging rights were still mine considering we'd (gloriously) trounced them 0-3 the previous December away at Ibrox.A match we'd both free of charge witness unfold (me deliriously so) via the medium of 'Teletext' on tv sets in the Co-Op department store in EK,whilst both under the guise of 'Christmas shopping'(gawping at burds).

4 days after this midweek Rangers draw game i was still in Dunoon, and remember even more vividly jumping wildly about my Aberdeen supporting Granda's house as Brian Welsh equalised in the last minute at Hampden against Aberdeen.Despite being my Granda,he was a smug armchair supporter (LITERALLY) who had baited me (as we listened to the Radio Clyde commentary) the entire game so i really exploded with joy and (much more than i should have) enjoyed the GIRFUY moment tbh.RIP though Granda Watt,i do miss you ya cantakerous old bassa.

The sides that night  (v Rangers) for anyone interested.
Utd -
Guido van de Kamp
Maurice Malpas
Alex Cleland
Gary Bollan
Gordan Petrić
Brian Welsh
David Hannah
Andy McLaren
Billy McKinlay
Jim McInally
Craig Brewster
Subs -
Christian Dailly
Jerren Nixon

V's

Rangers -
Andy Goram
Craig Moore
Neil Murray
Richard Gough
Dave McPherson
Steven Pressley
Stuart McCall
Iain Durrant
Gordon Durie
Duncan Ferguson
Alexei Mikhailitchenko
Subs -
Ally Maxwell
Mark Hateley

Crowd - 11,352 (which was incidentally btw 2,000 down on the same crowd our 0-0 draw with them a year previous was.)

Der Hun getting sick of facing the 'thorn in their side' even that far back ?

I love Dunoon and love Utd even more.Nice memories of what now seems a lifetime ago now, sadly.

Re: Paddington Bear

The Incredibles was the best Pixar picture and is screaming out for a sequel. You cannot beat the John Barry (Bond composer) soundtrack. Ratatoullie is superb as well.

Might take the bairns to see Paddington or the Penguins of Madagascar tomorrow actually.

Well hopefully he was deported back to Peru under strict EU immigration guidelines.

Re: Paddington Bear

Just went to see it with my 4 year old girl at the Odeon kids club today. It was really fun, definitely recommend it for a watch with the kids.
