Re: DUFC v Celtic - SCQF Sunday 8th Feb 2015, 3.30pm

Totally agree with everyone above that we need to really get stuck in in this game and never mind the tippy tappy, passing the ball intae the net shite.

Aberdeen tried to take them on at attacking fitba today and got skelped.

Was speaking to Motherwellarab about the game and who would he play and he said he'd play without a recognised forward and play a Levein type 4-6-0.At first i laughed but the more i think about it i can kinda see where he's coming fae.

Suffocate them in midfield and try and strangle the game, defend like fuck first and foremost...and try and nick one fae corners, free kicks or on the break.

Honestly think it's our only hope.

We no longer have the pace or players to go toe to toe with them attacking wise, and truth be told we never done very well against them when doing this even with guys like Russell,Hunt,Gauld,GMS,Armstrong etc etc.

Aye,stifle the game, suffocate them, chase them all over the park and get in their faces, try and frustrate them.

Maybe get one fae a Fojut or Morris heider fae a corner.

Our only hope.

Our best player next week will be the pitch, septic will find it impossible to play football on a Surface that is worse than drumgieth. The tactics have to be let them have the ball put them under pressure and try and capitalise on the limited first touch and resultant bobbles.

That's a bit hard on Drumgeith, cos in meh day it wisnae too bad (apart from turning up when the Dighty burst it's banks and you could only see the crossbars).

Re: DUFC v Celtic - SCQF Sunday 8th Feb 2015, 3.30pm

When was the last time we beat Celtic in a Cup competition? 1981?

Time to fucking man up against these bastards.

As shit as February was and there has been an air of gloom over the club recently all that can be vanquished very very quickly if we turn up for this match.

Jackie and these players could actually make themselves legends if they win these 2 cup games (or even just 1 of them). What an incredible incentive that is and we are the complete underdogs, there should be nothing to fear and we have nothing to lose.

Jackie's talked the talk with his mantra about 'mentality mentality menatlity'...time to walk the walk.

Have a proper gameplan, make sure every player knows it implicitly...go out and the match will take care of itself.

Just checked Arab Archive.

April 22nd 1981 last time we defeated them in a Cup match (SCSF 3-2 Utd).

Nearly 34 years ago...fair chunk of our support not even born.

Mon Utd.

Thought the sheep were doing ok till purple Hayes went aff, that back 4 isnay as good as they and the west coast meedja think they are.

we need to hunt in packs they think they can stroll aboot even ambrose, we need oor players to keep snapping at them, they didnay look that comfy when they hivnay got time, I reckon there's goals to be had if we defend fae the front.

We don't give a damn what the others say

we beat them in the league cup in the late 80's

2 nil at Tannadice. Redford and Gallagher.  Might have been 1987

They surprisingly haven't sold all the tickets for the League Cup final and when i was in the Club shop on Friday they said the ticket sales for the Scottish Cup were slow for that too!

I had no recollection of that match mate.I've checked the Archive and see on 5th september 1984 we knocked them out the League cup beating them 2-1 at Tannadice (Sturrock+Clark).

Is that maybe the game you were thinking about?

Incidentally we absolutely murdered them in season 85/86.Pumping them 3 nil at Parkhead and 4-2 at Tannadice.

See tbh been thinking about this and i think i'd prefer Rankin to Paton.

I don't actually mind Paton but i think his appearance against Celtic would just turn the game into a bit of a circus.

Their fans will give him dogs abuse and that prick Brown will make a beeline for him. That's not a problem really as he can certainly handle himself physically, but if there's a flashpoint you know it'll be him that gets the straight red and not one of their players.

Infact they'll probably take it in turns to foul him so none of them pick up a red...and he aint the type of player who wont take the bait.

I would defo keep him on the bench.

I'd start butcher and rankin over paton, purely because they give us more legs in there. Work rate is the key in these games.

If were gonna play 3 defensive midfielders i pray to fuck one's Souttar.

Somebody that can actually play fitba and run forward with it.

I won't hold my breath though.

Re: DUFC v Celtic - SCQF Sunday 8th Feb 2015, 3.30pm

I'd be amazed if Mario started this one. It'll be interesting if he plays for the U20's this week. Anier to start methinks with Mario to get at least 30-35 minutes. Mario a cert to start the League Cup Final though.  The closer it gets, the less I'm actually caring about the Scottish Cup game.  IMHO our chance went when Nadir got suspended for Sunday.  I think we'll win the League Cup though.

Too much commotion
