Next gemme, "at hame", v Hertz.
Fuck me, it's at Starks Park 2pm again, Wednesday.
But, I am available next week due to circumstances outwith my control.
But, should I travel 33 miles to see a development game I would hope to walk to?
Once bought into a statement from a poster (must've been another site) that the venue had to be a certain FIFA standard.
Then we played Accies at St Andra's.
FS, North End's nearer FIFA standard than that (and nearer meh hoose) so, while I understand Tannadice is bad enough just now, can anyone tell me why we're no really playing at hame?

Maybe the Club want to see our future stars develop on a better playing surface than Tannadice!

Had a glance at the Courier which had the stats from the weekends games. Looked for the Utd loanees.
Dumbarton: Darren Petrie, sub not used.
Airdrie: Scott Fraser, played full 90.
Arbroath: Marc McCallum, played full 90 (Arbroath were 3 nil down but drew 3-3).
East Fife: Ola Adayemo, sub, got on for last 7 minutes.
Montrose: Adan Harwood, sub not used.
Queens Park: Jordan Moore, played but subbied after 63 minutes.
Am I the only one finding this a bit disappointing/worrying? When you add in Scott Smith who by the end was never getting a game at Forfar and Joe McGovern who didn't appear to play much at all for Montrose its not exactly encouraging for the 1st team in the next few years.
Given that our model as a club is to rear young players to eventually sell on for the benefit of the club (when the Chairman needs the cash) it is looking like there is slim pickings for the next couple of years. Lets face it, once Souttar and Ciftci go we are pretty much out of family silver. How are we going to stem £750,000 a season losses if the laddies that are supposed to replace the ones that are gone are not even good enough to get a game for Montrose, Forfar and the like????
Why are many of our laddies going on loan and not being deemed good enough to start games? Are we overating them?

is souttar going to generate any kind of fee over £500k?
Ciftci a year left on his contract come end of season so will thompson cash in for under £1m?
does that leave us with Telfer & Connoly as our only player looking like we can get some kind of reasonable figure for?

Had that exact convo today on twitter with a fellow Utd supporter.
People keep saying ST's doing a great job etc etc.
Take away the player sales of the past 2-3 years and we're running at a worrying loss each season (and that's even finishing top 4 and getting to Semi's/Final's).
As you said after Ciftci (who'll be away in the summer) and Soapy...who's stemming that loss each season?
Incidentally totally agree with your first point too.I'm very dissapointed in how the loanee's are doing.Ceres Arabs always does a summary of how the loanees are doing each Saturday night, and time after time i'm left deflated at the lack of success in amongst his reports.
Added to that the boy fae Arbroath who we shelled out 50k on in january hasn't been starting every match recently for the Smokies.
McNamara has to pull a rabbit or 4 out the hat in the close season methinks.

Ciftci a year left on his contract come end of season so will thompson cash in for under £1m? Definitely.

Neither are anything like at the stage where other clubs will come sniffing around for them, which in one sense is good for us because they will still be playing for us for at least the next couple of seasons, but means the club has little transfer income on the horizon once Nads is sold.

TEK - Eh canny see him as an exciting signing ken that. spoke about this with a few boys who think the same. Surely we should be trying to replace top strikers with better than a young lad fae arbroath

exactly
so thompson will cash in on nadir for £400k in summer and Souttar will be well short.

We accepted a 600k bid for Soapy previously remember (Sunderland).
So we would absolutely accept a bid for him of under a million.
Infact we'd prob buckle and accept 500k.

Who is going to bid £500k for him now though?

I'll reserve my judgement till i see the lad play.
But the fact he's recently not even been starting for Arbroath concerns me.He should be banging the goals in at that level (3rd tier) if he is considered Dundee Utd class.
Gardyne and Graham scored for fun at a division higher and even they found the step-up a bit too much.

Not soon.
But i have faith once he gets back fit and in the first team he'll be a real asset.
Still only 18 and younger than half the developement team.

I get the impression that Soapy quite fancies himself as a player and doesn't see himself as having any issues with his game and therefore is doing very little to add to the abilities he has got. His heading ability has never improved since he broke into the team and neither has his positional sense. Other clubs scouting him are bound to see that he is far from the finished article but also has not really improved in the last couple of years. He also has been injured a lot this season and this means his value is bound to be pretty low.
January's debacle also means that clubs now know that Thompson's bluff has been called as regards playing hardball over fee's.

A Captain's performance if truth be told.

Scott Fraser has been Airdrie's stand out player at least.

Souttar was excellent in the 1-1 draw at Celtic Park last season. Admittedly, Celtic were dreadful in an attacking sense that day but Souttar and Gunning strolled it.

Fraser should be getting game time at Tannadice.....excellent prospect....
