Re: Dundee Utd V's Motherwell - 13/8/14

If teams are gonna come and 'park the bus' it's nice to know we have a defence we can perhaps trust enough to flood the midfield and maybe even go two uptop.

Re: Dundee Utd V's Motherwell - 13/8/14

Very good second half performance fae United. Defence looking great so far, especially considering there are 3 new lads. Everyone played well but thought maybe Paton or Ranks for MOM.

What a strike fae Bilate, just wonderful. Deserved to win any game, cant wait to see it.

Tap o the league after stuffing the sheep at the pit and beating Well at Tanny. Great stuff DUFC

It may sound incredulously fictional to most and many more will question my sanity but I swear Mario Bilate had the force behind him tonight thanks to a special guest in the lower ET. Was it just me or did anyone else spot YODA ?

Re: Dundee Utd V's Motherwell - 13/8/14

Great win which to be honest I didn't think was coming. We never looked in danger of losing that but at the same time for the first hour we didn't do enough to win it either.

The defence were brilliant, Townsend really looked the part, particularly defending. Morris and Fojut were outstanding.

The only real frustration for me tonight was the crossing, both from dead ball and the wings it was shocking.

Motherwell were far more defensive than I've seen them in a while and seemed to play for time from the 5th minute.

Great goal, good uplift from the bookies and very confident that we can get a result on Saturday.

Goal clip and post match interviews are now on Arabzone, enjoy.

Re: Dundee Utd V's Motherwell - 13/8/14

Decent performance on the whole, more solid looking back 4, townsends a good defender but not got the same attacking instinct as Robbo so more onus on the 3 behind the striker to create and get wide. Could see 4-1-4-1 being utilised vs certain teams to help with this.

Pates, Ranks and Dow for me the star men, GMS had his moments too but spoiled it trying tricks in the wrong areas and at the wrong times.

Re: Dundee Utd V's Motherwell - 13/8/14

Motherwell defended well, fuck all up top though.

Again the back 4 were solid. Townsend played well In the 2nd half. Fojut and Morris looked strong.

GMS was excellent everything went through him, please sign the deal.

Nadir didn't look interested, Amo wasn't that good. Rankin and Paton fought hard as usual. Bilate's goal's beautiful.

Brilliant tactic by Jackie putting Paton to RB.

Hope the old guy who got hit by the ball Is okay.

Re: Dundee Utd V's Motherwell - 13/8/14

By the end of the 1st half, I was wondering if we were gonna score and if this was gonna end up a 0-0 draw.

2nd half was thoroughly entertaining.  Think Motherwell were only in our box about 3 times in the last half hour, from an offside, a free-kick, and a couple of corners.

Thought Paton was top notch at right back. Great sublime pass from GMS to let Super Mario beat 3 men then wallop up into the net. Super Mario and Shifty worked great at the front.

Shifty had 2 or 3 pots toward the goal, but think in desperation to score his 1st goal, hung on to the ball sometimes. In the 1st half of course he was s bit isolated. But some great footwork esp. 1 of the passes to GMS.

Think Jaro cleared playing the ball more with his head than with his foot. Very pleasing to see hard defening esp. against that chunt Sutton. Townsend made some great clearances away from the corner area, and the left wing to play the ball up the wing, including some good turns and dummies.

Re: Dundee Utd V's Motherwell - 13/8/14

Morning Gents!

Great result last night, thought the first half was quite even but the second half was one way traffic from about the last 30 minutes. Back 4 looked great and Sutton is a real pain in the arse but they dealt with him really well. When Pates fired over the bar i did think we were not going to score but thank you Mr Mario what a rocket!!

Thought the pitch never helped us last night as it was on the springy side and seemed to be cutting up, more down to the rain over the past couple of days but it certainly made the ball sticky.

6 pts fro 6 available, twa clean sheets canny grumble!!!!

Re: Dundee Utd V's Motherwell - 13/8/14

Talking of the pitch last night, did anyone notice how wonky the lines were painted?

I sit between the 6 and 18 yard box lines at the GF side and they were well squeent.

The 18 yard line in particular was mental.

Re: Dundee Utd V's Motherwell - 13/8/14

After a stale 1st half (looked a bit shot-shy) we just seemed to get better and better as the match progressed. Some strike fae SuperMario though! 6 from 6 and no conceded a goal...my only slight concern is Armstrong no really being at the races. Clutching at straws though.  Onwards and upwards 😃

I heard they managed to locate him. Hope he's ok though.

Met Paton near the end of last season and he's a gem of a guy, bet he felt awful.
