Re: DUFC V Aberdeen - Saturday 24th October

For a 3-2 win, that was a dreadful watch.

It shouldn't have taken this long to realise Sapsford is our best striker and ought to be starting.

Also, I don't like to criticise Utd players, and I've been trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, but Bennie is absolutely honking.

Re: DUFC V Aberdeen - Saturday 24th October

I was unpleasantly surprised at how much decent football Aberdeen played.
We found it very hard to cope with Nesbit.
Rawlins gave them every encouragement to get crosses in and Walton came for exactly none of them.

But this team have style, and a new creativity we haven't seen for years.
Bert and Michael Forbes were fantastic. Get them rested up tonight Jim.

Plenty more to say but that's a brilliant win and pushes us up above our neighbours into 4th.

Edit to correct Rawlins instead of Randall

Re: DUFC V Aberdeen - Saturday 24th October

I thought that was a very entertaining game of football. Both teams spent the majority of the 90mins trying to attack and score goals.  Plenty of shots, crosses, tackles and effort and thankfully very little side to side passing between CHs.
Outrageous VAR decision to rule out the  Sapsford goal, no matter what was happening in front of their goalie he was never saving that. It was a great team goal as well.
Not everything was perfect but 10/12 pts and 4th in the table after 10 games will please even the most negative Arabs.

You thought that was a dreadful watch, seriously?

Was an absolutely brilliant game of football- Aberdeen played there part, thought they were very good in spells which surprised me

Bert and Forbes terrific.

Tait and Zidane in spells today were a joy to watch- the latter will not be here long, be lucky to keep him past January.

2 superb goals from sapsford- hope and pray that gives him a boost as I thought he was pretty annoyance before goals !

Re: DUFC V Aberdeen - Saturday 24th October

The movement from Zac for both his goals is what we’ve been missing in recent weeks from our starting striker, hopefully gives him a confidence boost and he makes the position his own

Re: DUFC V Aberdeen - Saturday 24th October

Thought it was a good game today especially with the conditions. It should’ve been more comfortable as there was nothing wrong with Sapsford’s ruled out shot. It was a superb bit of team play.

Bert for me was MOTM. I’m enjoying him and Forbes. Also thought Zidane and Tait complemented each other well today. The scenes in Baghdad for that goal must’ve been crazy.

I’ve slagged his work rate and effort but Sapsford was good today, hopefully this gives him confidence because it’s his spot to lose now.

Fuck them sheep bastards.

One player that doesn’t often get a mention is Randall. I think the fans in general are underrating him. He causes teams a lot of problems, and I think he’s gonna be a terrific player for us. Not the finished article by any means, but there’s a lot to like about him, he’s absolutely rapid and a good outball for us. I thought he was great today.

Also thought Rawlins had another good game, he’s settling in well now after a shaky start.

Large parts of it, yes. The conditions were awful, of course, but for big chunks of the game it was just hoofball.

Randall in recent weeks has really come on.

Not sure I agree thought both teams played some pretty good football at times

Re: DUFC V Aberdeen - Saturday 24th October

One thing I love about this midfield is if you have the ball they will harass you, they will corner you, they will hunt you down, and they will it win it off you. And when they do they will drive forward at you.

There are still individual and collective things we can improve on but this side is night and day above what we've been watching for quite some time .

Not how I saw it either Monny. Our midfield played a lot of slick triangular passing. They did on occasion try a longer pass but it was mostly an attempt to get Randall away. When we got hemmed in towards the end yes some punts away, but overall no, we played a lot of good football on the deck.

And to be fair to Aberdeen they tried to.

I was watching it develop thinking it was a great game for the neutral but at the same time thinking surely we're not going to throw this away.
Compared to some of the pish on display last year it was like watching PSG.

Re: DUFC V Aberdeen - Saturday 24th October

A very entertaining game of football in what were horrendous conditions. Both sets of players deserve credit for making that a good, attacking game of football. It could have easily been a turgid watch in that wind and rain.

Delighted to see Zac Sapsford back to what looks like the player we had grown to love. Bizarre decision for me to sub him off after he'd essentially just scored two great goals in 5 minutes. For me the subs nearly killed us.

A terrific win though against an Aberdeen side who weren't quite as bad as has been made out.

A rather daunting trip to Parkhead on Wednesday. Be great if Merghem and Ferry could somehow make the squad.

Lastly. David Dickinson continues to be an utter penis of a man.

My player ratings -

Walton 7 - Good performance in tricky conditions. No chance with either goal.

Ciubotaro 7 - Pretty solid.

Esselink 7 - Couple of wayward passes, but usual brave defending.

Forbes 8 - Would header a brick wall if it helped the cause. A warrior today and put his body on the line time and again.

Rawlins 7 - He's starting to win me over.

Iqbal 8 - That was his best game for us so far. Still haven't seen him give the ball away. Delighted he got his first goal for United. No doubt liked online by about 3M Iraqi's.

Cameron 6 - Possibly his quietest game for us, so far, but still got stuck in and some nice passing.

Tait 8 - Excellent again. Brilliant opportunistic goal and a dream cross for Sapsford's winner. What a turnaround in him.

Bennie 5 - Honking. Won't have a starting jersey much longer i suspect. Even though i felt Sapsford's first goal should have stood, why the fuck was he standing offside and then compounding it by running across his shot. Just braindead stuff. The Scotland talk needs binned off, He has a lot to work on.

Sapsford 8 - Genuinely brilliant to see him back to his best. Robbed of an outstanding finish and i was worried his head might go down as a consequence. So, so delighted to see that it just fuelled him. Outstanding header for the winner. His first headed goal for United (i think). He looked angry today. He needs to keep that fire in the belly.

Randall 8 - Outstanding today and absolutely roasted their Left back. Great 'assist' for what should have been Sapsford's first. He's getting better by the week and thankfully no signs of fatigue or burn-out as yet.

Subs -

Farrugia 6 - Never offered much, as per.

Rose 6 - Just not happening with him, sadly. Missed one good chance and another gilt edged one, that looked easier to score than miss.

Yoro 6 - Fairly quiet.
