A chance to overtake the Saints and move up to 5th in the table (or even potentially 4th).
Starting XI?

Walton
Rawlins - Bert - Forbes - Kev
Tait - Zidane - Cameron
Randall - Rose - Bennie

Right back and Centre Forward are our two problem positions.
IMO Rawlins was poor against Hibs he wasn’t under defensive pressure but his passing was awful.
Metsoko , in a game where the ball spent a lot of time in the Hibs box never looked like scoring once.
Both were taken off but I’m not convinced Nammo or Rose are much better.

Nammo got into a couple of great positions where he could've scored, then he channelled his inner Metsoko.
Rawlins is improving, slowly, but we're building a team, i'd be inclined to keep playing the same XI until we lose or injury/suspension forces our hand.

Yeah as David said same team until forced changes

Bar highlights I haven't seen the last two games. Normally I'd agree that you don't change a winning team unless you have to, but the key for me here is we took chances against St Mirren but scraped through against Hibs with a scrappy finish. Question for those at the Hibs game, the chances that we missed, do you see the same players having the same bad luck/lack of skill in front of goal again or would we normally have converted some of those chances? If it is the latter then, on the basis chances are being created, I'd stick with the same team, if the former then justified in shaking things up in the frontline.

Finn,
I didn’t see anything from the forwards who came off the bench to think they would be any better than the ones that started.

Only change I’d be tempted to make would be Rose for Metsoko.

Yeah I did think to myself that might have been the case. I guess if people are not pressing their case when they come on from the bench they can have no complaints if they don't start.

Sounds like Ferry will be out for a couple more weeks

I think most of us would replace Metsoko with Rose, but if you're chasing a game, would you rather bring on Rose, or replace him with Metsoko?
Offline

This is a great opportunity to press on and cement the progress we're making.
I'd like to see us being more on the front foot from the start though.
Don't let them settle, high energy from the off. Press them, they will make errors.
And if the front 3 can be more clinical that would definitely help our case 🧡

That's a pertinent question.
And i think i would start Metsoko and bring on Rose when the game is stretched.
Though i don't rate either, i think that is the best play.
I've gave up on Sapsford as a No.9.

Heard a rumour a few days ago that him and Goodwin have fell-out.

Walton
Naamo Bert Forbes Kev
Zidane Tait
Randall Cameron Bennie
Metsoko
Not having rawlins at all, Naamo for me deserves a run of games Is the only change I’d make.

Unchanged.
I thought! Metsoko was a good target / layoff man against Buddies.
Sapsford's soo frustrating

Sapsford for months now just doesn’t look interested. I wouldn’t have him anywhere near our squad anymore.

What a nonsense statement, the lad is suffering from a lack of confidence and remains a very good player, he'll come good again.

There's an extra incentive to take all 3 points because if we win and our neighbours lose on Saturday night we'd overtake both clubs to go fourth in the league.

He’s barely played well since new year mate. Almost 10 months. I hope he comes good mate but I’m not too sure.

He's been playing poorly for months, but what is unacceptable is the last four or five games he's played he's jogged about looking like he can't be arsed. The bare minimum any player can put in is effort and that's not been happening lately. I wouldn't be surprised if he leaves in January. If we can get another striker in it would be a win-win.

Is Sapsford getting into Esselink territory from last year. Will Sapsford have a redemption arc similar to Bert’s ?
It’s difficult to predict how this will go, however he is currently playing his way out of the squad and into sitting with the body bag style coat on in the stand.

Haven't seen much of us this season for a variety of reasons, but am pleasantly surprised that Esselink is getting such praise. I haven't rated him any time I have seen him in the flesh. He did OK against Livi away last season but they were pish. Any time I have seen him against a 'better' team he's been below average.
Sapsford hasn't been consistent enough, but of our forward options he's the only one that I have seen that has the ability to fire in a shot with any level of disguise and from a variety of angles. He played his best with Max Watters alongside him so maybe he needs a little time with Metsoko on the pitch to see if they can combine. I don't think he works that well as a through the middle striker and Rose doesn't compliment him. There is a player in there though and it will come back out so I wouldn't be so hasty as others to write him off.

Probably a long shot given the allocation, but is there anywhere obvious I would look for a spare ticket other than X? Been working up in Aberdeen and didn't realise I would get away in time for the game until after it was sold out. Annoying as Perth is on my way home.
