For the first time in quite a while I'm seeing a passing team that if minded to could give anyone in Scotland a game anywhere including Hampden.

Not getting carried away because we still need to learn how to finish from good positions but the signs are really promising.

You’ve mentioned Hampden, now i’m dreaming about us winning the Scottish cup.

We've got a few weeks before January to gel better.
Some United teams of old would have given that Hibs side a 4 nil humping and once we found our feet I thought we might do exactly that.

Once our front players learn how to be clinical we'll be a threat to anyone.

Early days of course but dare I say that Kev looks like he could definitely be a more than adequate replacement for Ferry?

Looks a very good player.

Would still have ferry ahead of him however this wee run of games will do him no harm for when ferry inevitably leaves.

Some really good football and performances today and 2 wins in a row.
Low point was only scoring 1 goal though, can’t believe the amount of times the forwards chose the wrong option or failed to hit the target.

Not seen the stats for today’s game but it must be well down on goals scored versus chances created this season although I’m just happy we are creating chances

Re: Dundee United Vs Hibernian - Saturday 10th October

negatives - if bennie and randall were slightly better players we would have scored 5, no problem

positives - thought everyone put in a really good shift, pressured hibs all the way to the final whistle

double positive - BERT WAS IMMENSE

Re: Dundee United Vs Hibernian - Saturday 10th October

A good win and clean sheet, albeit against a Hibs side who were surprisingly very poor (i say surprisingly as i expected their new Manager to give them a lift).

Long time since i've seen us dominate Hibs so much in a game. We really should have won 2, 3 or even 4 nil.

Defence was excellent today, particularly Bert Esselink.

Midfield trio have all gelled so well together and the biggest compliment i can give them is we haven't missed Emmanuel Agyei, who's absence was a huge concern of mine. Those fears are somewhat allayed now (though i'd still like him back asap for harder tests coming up).

Our attackers really do disappoint however. All of them.

If we make just one signing in January then it simply has to be a Striker. And i would like it done early in the window.

This will be the difference between a good season and an indifferent one. We just came off the back of a season that promised lots but failed to deliver due to squad inequalities. Don't make the same mistake again Jim.

From now until January, Ross Goodwin has to scour the World to get us a man who can put the ball in the net with regularity. Because if we get that man then this might just be a team who can give anyone in the league a game.

My player ratings on a happy evening (well Morning, now) -

Walton 7 - Didn't have a save to make really until right at the death.

Rawlins 7 - Been far better the last 3 games. Starting to settle in to the side well.

Esselink 9 - Outstanding. Was a rock at the back.

Forbes 8 - Solid. Him and big Bert starting to look formidable together.

Ciubotaro 7 - We haven't really missed Ferry of late and that reflects well on Kev. In fact his form may well give us an opportunity to play Ferry at left wing once he returns from injury. Our left side would be really strong in that event.

Iqbal 7 - Actually thought he was quite quiet tbh. Never gives the ball away though. His possession stats must be excellent. He has definitely enabled Cameron (and Tait for that matter) to get forward, given he holds his position so well.

Tait 8 - Done a very quick 180 on this guy. Thought he was a complete overblown dud up until the Falkirk game. He has been absolutely excellent since. Well done Dylan.

Cameron 8 - What an outstanding football player. I love him already. It's been years since we've had a No.10 with his vision and eye for a pass. It makes me think who was responsible for letting him go from our Academy in the first place? Huge mistake.

Bennie 7 - Scored his first goal, though i think he knew as much about it as Stevie Wonder. But right place, right time and all that. Very wasteful with his other chances. I really can't make my mind up on him. Gets in good positions but his finishing and final ball is just so bad at times.

Metsoko 6 - Sorry, i just don't rate him. Tries hard, undoubtedly, but i just think he's stiff, slow, can't jump for the ball despite being 6ft 3 and worst of all he never ever gets in scoring positions to receive the ball. Constantly glued to an opposing defender. He's another VDS. Could go all season and not score.

Randall 6 - A bit like Bennie. Gets in good scoring positions (unlike the aforementioned Metsoko) which is a positive. However his finishing and final ball is more often than not very poor as is his decision making. A frustrating player because he can be very decent up until he gets into the penalty box.

Subs -

Sapsford 5 - Continues to jog about looking fed-up. Baffling.

Yoro 6 - Couple of nice forward passes.

Farrugia 5 - Zero goals or assists in 10 months of football. Not sure how he keeps getting game time ahead of a young guy like Cohen Lieper.

Rose 5 - A really hard runner, but again i see very little beyond that, sadly.

Naamo 5 - Awful miss near the end. Not sure how he doesn't connect with the ball tbh as he had all the time in the World from just 3 yards out. Offside flag spared his blushes somewhat. He really needs to take a game sometime soon. Continues to underwhelm on each appearance.
