Just having a look on Transfermrkt at available Strikers who are currently without a club.

A few interesting names in there. Jamie Vardy, Danny Ings, Jordan Ayew. All players doubtless outwith our wage structure even in the twilight of their careers.

One name stuck out. Pavol Safranko.

Left his club in Azerbaijan (Sabah FC) in July. They incidentally won the Azerbaijan league and are about to feature in the Champions League for the first time against Arsenal, Barcelona, Borrusia Dortmund amongst others.

Still only 31.

Here he is scoring for Sabah against Petrocub last year in the Conference League (he scored in both legs). 





Also scored last season against Celje in the Europa League in the previous game (they were knocked out and down to the Conference).



Things going great for him. Then he does his ACL and misses the entire season, hence him being released.

We now, however, have a period of just 1 game in 5 weeks coming up. What a brilliant opportunity to get him (or any unattached Striker) in and give him a pre-season and get him ready to be available for the Hibs or St.Johnstone game in mid-October. Only brilliant opportunity if we act now, however. 

This all assuming he is now over the injury (of course). He received the injury almost a year ago to the day (1st October 2025).
