Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

Do we have rumoured teams, fees etc?

If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Someone on twitter saying Rangers want Sapsford.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

Sapsford is a massively frustrating player, when he's on his game he's a great asset, but sometimes it looks like he's just came to work after a pulling an all-nighter on the other side of the world, and never slept on the flight back.

Rumour in the group chat that it could be the Huns are after him, are they purposely building a team to be just not quite good enough?

If it's Rangers you have to hope we're looking at at least 2M plus add-on's.

As frustrating as he can be (and boy can he be frustrating), i'd still be sad to see him go.

You get the sense he could end up really quite decent, but feels like it could go either way.

Nothing on this for a few days now, anyone heard anything?

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

I think Sapsford would be mad to go to Rangers at the moment.  He's not ready to deal with the vitriol he'd get from the terraces if his performance is questionable.  As we have seen he still needs to find the consistency required before he moves on to the next stage (wherever that is) but even then I don't think he'd be suited to the Ibrox pressure....

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

If we got anything like 7 figures for sapsford I would be delighted as long as it was reinvested in the team. Not even convinced I want the Sapsford of the past 9 months as a starter for United.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

Sapsford's deal was apparently structured in such a way that in return for not paying a fee for him when we signed him, his former club get the majority of any future transfer fee and United only get a percentage.

Just wow - hopefully this is the one that costs him.

So you hope we have a bad season?

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

I'm willing to bet the Sapsford rumour was started by someone waiting to see if his ITK rumour made the forums.

Probably based on the goal he scored against them at Tannadice.

We can argue about the ability of quite a few members of the squad but it looks like we have two players for every position. So the budget is probably used up.
However there may well be a few outgoings to come.  Hopefully Eskessen , possibly Graham ( at his age is he happy to spend the season on the bench ?). Ferry will be keen to get his move.
Other bids may come in- with still over a fortnight of the window to go a lot could still happen.

I take it that is only if no one were to leave.

If (for instance) Ferry and Sapsford leave i think we'd sign another Left Back and Striker.

You'd certainly have to assume/hope so. If Ferry goes I get a feeling we'll go for a centre back to up the numbers in there. You have Naamo, Gilligan who can cover Ciubotaru and even Farrugia, Forbes or Graham that can move out to LB at a push.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

I read the Romanian lad coming is as being Ferry’s replacement. Let’s hope he stays fit.

I am, as always with Goodwin, worried about creativity and wingers. It seems we have 1 winger that might be creative. The rest of the forward players look like hard workers that will track back. If that doesn’t change we will just have more of the past 2 seasons.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

If we don’t get an experienced centre half in before the end of the window, we’re fucked.

How that wasn’t number one priority going into the summer after watching that defence last season is beyond me. Nothing has changed.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

You can add a right back as well. That Rawlins either isn't ready or is just utterly dreadful whilst Nammo is always injured and Goodwin clearly doesn't trust him anyway.

Agreed, can’t continue with Rawlins, he’s miles off it, unfortunately.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

I hope Will Ferry plays in the Derby but very often on days like today that absence is because his transfer is very close.

The new LB was better than Rawlins on the right but would be nice for Will to give the fans a wee leaving present.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

Will be interesting to see our lineup for Saturday.
I suspect 99% of the fans would ask Sevelj to step into right back.
Will Goodwin?

Re: Summer Transfer Window 26/27

We’ve went too far with the data led approach, there’s boys in the lower leagues that we should be going for and would be much better than some of these boys were signing from Australia and Eastern Europe. Stanway, Aidan Fitzpatrick and Ben McPherson at Partick would all step up to Premiership level and be a big improvement on the players we’ve signed in their positions this summer.

I also can’t for the life of me believe we haven’t signed an experienced, commanding centre half. That was the single most important position we needed to upgrade in, and instead we’re sticking with 3 of the 4 players that made an absolute cunt of it last season.
