Haven't beaten Celtic in a League Cup match since 31st August 1988. When United defeated Celtic 2-0 in the League Cup Quarter Final at home. With goals from Ian Redford and Kevin Gallacher.
If we manage to defeat Celtic on Saturday it will also be the first time we have defeated Celtic three home games in a row since a three game winning streak that spanned seasons 89/90 and 90/91.
What would be your starting XI and formation for Saturday?

Actually nice to see that we've got some options....!

Good options, same disfunction.

The last two times we beat Celtic at Tannadice we played 343. I'd be amazed if Goodwin doesn't revert to that on Saturday, particularly after shipping 4 to Hearts. And i think i would too tbh. I'd drop Randall and Rawlins. Both need a bit of time to adjust to Scottish football.

Don't disagree with going three at the back for games against superior opposition.

It looks like we've only sold about 2000 tickets for tomorrow. Grim. Thinking out loud could there be loads of different factors involved in this????
-Cost of living
-Game not valid on season ticket (but if this had been in Europe the place would have been sold out I'm 100% sure)
-Derby next week and people keeping their money for this (particularly non-season ticket holders since league walk-up prices are astronomical now)
-Game live on tv
-Awkward kick off time
-People preferring to use their Saturday night for going out
-End of summer (cost, people still on holiday)
-Schools going back next week (cost again for uniforms etc)
-Playing Celtic (all the nonsense that goes with it)
-Celtic looking back to form last week
-Us being shite last week
-Fear of a doing
-Goodwin's shite record in cup competitions and his 'terrorist-ball' style being better suited to grinding out points over a season rather than one-off games that you need to get the players up for
-Years of Utd as a club showing apathy and contempt for the League Cup by treating it as pre-season now finally taken hold in the fans minds too?
-Fans seeing the Scottish Cup as more important? (But not the club it would appear since we are equally half-arsed in that competition too?)
-Our team being full of foreigners? When you look at leagues abroad, particularly in Europe, cup competitions carry little importance and very few nations actually have a league cup anymore. Maybe too many of our players aren't really bothered about cups?
-Club priorities appearing to be more focused on their 'player trading model' (i.e. bringing in players and selling them on for a profit for the Chairman). It's all Goodwin seems to speak about when we bring in players now and appears to be the main selling point of the club to new players. The idea of come to Dundee United because we want you to help us challenge for trophies over the next 2-3 years and try to get into Europe doesn't seem to feature???? Instead, it appears to be, come to Dundee United and we'll give you a shop window to get a big move in the next 2-3 years.
-Fans not seeing the League Cup as important any more due to lack of European place as reward at the end?
-Fans not liking the current League Cup format?
Any other ideas?

Our recruitment has been based around a back 4, so I'd be surprised to see him change so early in the season, even after a hammering. Still time left in the window so if we were to sign about CB then a back 3 becomes a more regular option.

If he selects this, which he might, we have a problem. Tait is playing deep. Agyei is only decent if he sits and breaks up play, Sevelj isn't the best in forward positions.
It can only work if he sits Tait ahead of Sevelj and Agyei and so far there's been no evidence of him doing that.

Worked fine against Rangers. Not sure any of the other 3 options (Camara, Eskesen, Yoro (yet)) improve that midfield for this game.

We caught Rangers cold. But fair play defending your selection. I'll be happy to be proved wrong if he selects that and we play well. For me Tait is wasted playing deep. I had hoped he would be played as an 8.

Last weeks results for both clubs as you pointed out is a big factor. I will be there but don’t hold out much hope.
I would also add that the sight of the terrorist sympathisers waving Palestine flags is unacceptable in a football ground.

Looking on Fotmob, in reality, United transfer value 6.7 million, Ceptic 68 million. Anything against them has to be hard fought and things going in our favour.

Me and mate bought our tickets tonight, i expect nothing. Let’s hope they spring a surprise.

Hearing that Tait's suspended for this one, don't know if it's true.

Just looked and he got two bookings in the group games...
Hopefully Yoro in for him, more likely Camara or Eskesen though.
