Montrose and Stirling the away games I think.

I hope so, I’ve never been to forthbank.

Played them in both cups back in 96-97
The Scottish Cup game was where it's believed Love is in the Air and Beautiful Sunday took off.

And a couple of years later when we needed a last minute equaliser to draw 2-2.

That is a very winnable group, it must be said.
Not much of a fan of it being regionalised now btw. We seem to play the same teams often these days.
Think this will be our 3rd game against Spartans in just 2 years or so.
Format is getting a bit repetitive and it feels like the type of teams we'd play in pre-season anyway.

A group we should be winning comfortably. It’s not regionalised btw. QOS in same group as Brora…

Yeah it stopped being regionalised a few years ago, just by chance most of the teams we’ve drawn are nearby.

Ahh my mistake then.
Hopefully the Scottish provides with something a bit different this season. Somewhere we've never been.

Going by years before, the 2nd and 4th seeds are away to the top seed so going by that, it would be Arbroath & Spartans at home for us & Montrose and Stirling Albion away.
You get over 3000 for Montrose in the away end so there won’t be any trouble for tickets. Stirling Albion can give around 1500 tickets to away fans according to google.

'Love is in the Air' goes back further than 96-97 -- back to the early 90s, I think, and I guess after the film Strictly Ballroom came out. The Scottish Cup game might have been where 'Olof's in the Air' took off.

Was Love is the Air not played at the 94 final?

Maybe you're both right, but I don't remember it being classed as a United song that early.
That season when Oloffson etc all came in, that's when I remember it getting serious traction.

Nobody was singing it there. It undoubtedly existed as a song but it wasn't linked to United until 96/97.

Aye definitely took off when big Kjell signed. The one big "non-United" song I remember from 93-94 was Go West by the Pet Shop Boys. "United, we're gonna win the cup". Was being sung at every round by the fans and it was played over the tannoy at Hampden before the game from memory.

I don't remember any particular games, but I distinctly remember talking about Love is in the Air being sung at Tannadice with a friend at school in what must have been 1994-5 at the latest. (I left school in 1995.)

My memory's not what it used to be though, so I guess that could be some kind of confabulation.

Premier Sports making us play at 7pm on a Saturday night. Is their sponsorship worth it with these kick off times ?
Do they make their favourite two teams play at that time ?
