Won the Argentine league with Belgrano yesterday.
Beat River Plate 3-2 away to seal the title.
A magnificent achievement.

Funny how things work out. Much like Barry Douglas, I thought he was absolutely shite at us. No problem with either of them though, they’ve done very well to do what they have in football, but in a Dundee United shirt, neither were up to much IMO.

Agreed on Douglas. Absolute shite, good left foot but that was it.
Sporle, no idea what his best position was but when he played he just didn’t have it

Wow !
That's like a Leicester achievement. Usually unheard of for team outside of Buenos Aires to win.
... Just goes to show Scottish football's more corrupt than Argentina.
Good for him.

I heard Simon Weston had a tenner on them to win but the bookie wouldn’t pay out. He burnt his coupon.

Definitely won't be toasting the win with a Thatcher's Cider.

Always thought both had potential, though i get why both underwhelmed too. Douglas had came not long after Paul Dixon. Sporle came not long after Andy Robertson (bit more of a time jump there, but his departure still felt recent'ish anyway).
Hard for any player coming in at LB to impress after some of the other left backs of distinction we'd had in that decade.
I always felt both showed glimpses of being good talented footballers and the flak in particular Douglas received was way over the score. Felt personal tbh. No idea why.
Always felt Sporle was better in midfield btw, played further forward and scored in that game i posted just the other day in the pre season competition (under Mickey Mellon).
But noticed he has strictly reverted to LB in Argentina.
