I was very dismayed and very angry to read of the attempted bastardization of this great and iconic Scottish Football Club.

The SFA and SPFL are supposed to have an investigation into shareholders and owners (fit and proper persons check), they recently for example deemed Hamilton Accies new owners to not be fit and proper.

Yet, complete silence from them regards this unscrupulous individual (Paul Riley)'s attempt to turn them into some sectarian mini version of Shamrock Rovers/Celtic.

I was thinking to myself today why this particular story angered and perturbed me so much and then i remembered that many years ago i went to 3 or 4 Rovers games at Cliftonhill, with my Dad and Brothers.

Anyone over 40 might remember that for years they were the whipping boys of Scottish football and finished bottom of the lowest tier. The press eventually got a hold of this and started dubbing them 'the Worst team in the UK'. They were basically made out to be a laughing stock. Everyone's punching bag.

Well, this was enough for my old man to one day say 'Mon, boys we're gonna go and watch Albion Rovers today'. He always rooted for the underdog. It was one trait of his i have taken to my heart big time.

And unbelievably every time we watched them they won, we seemed to be lucky mascots for them. I have fond memories of those few days at Cliftonhill.

Proper old school Scottish community club. With an iconic stadium i should add.

Every Scottish football fan should rally against this, and it would be nice for other clubs to speak out against it too (perhaps wishful thinking).
