You're probably right, but what are you basing this on? Nothing has been announced.

With Aberdeen’s team bus being able to leave no later than 4:30, i suspect we’ll know by late afternoon. I highly doubt it’ll be on.

Pitch inspection scheduled for 1pm.

I do hope it's off, I detect no mood for it to be on.
I hope too this opens up a debate re summer football.
I can see us going there eventually but I've been waiting 20 years for timing the ball in play so not confident.
FIFA are shite.

Suits me as the A92 will probably be flooded in several places.

See the Daily Rangers is in quick with a rerun of the Rangers abandoned match ticket 'scandal'. Different scenario. Any excuse.
A lot of pride that it clearly still annoys them...

Rain or not. This pitch is a disgrace and anyone who thinks gross negligence hasn't happened here needs an eye test. Utd being entirely disingenuous that any game could have taken place on that pitch last night. The Spartans game already looks at risk.
Absolute shambles.

Are they being disingenious, or are they making the noises they have to make to be heard by others? How would people react if we called the game off yesterday and it turned out the game could go ahead?
For the record, I think the pitch is a disgrace, but surely everyone understands the club have to give the game every chance to be played and besides, is it not the ref that has to make the decision as opposed to the club?

They are being disingenuous. There is no way that pitch was hosting a football match yesterday, today or anytime soon.
The entire touchline is a swamp FFS. This below from someone I follow on Twitter.

For God's sake give it a rest, we have had unprecedented constant rainfall for over a month yet it's the Club's fault that the pitch is unplayable. Get a grip and give the Club a break, I've never heard so much moaning. All experts groundsmen of course.

No surprise at all the game tonight is off with it pishing down for over 24 hours.
The pitch though looks cut up and in such disrepair that even with a necessary break from the rain I can't see us fulfilling all the backlog of fixtures.
Spartans next week, then Killie a few days later. Will rearranged St Mirren and sheep games also be within the next month? Can't see any danger of all those going ahead.

As an aside I noticed the SPFL have insisted St.Johnstone's KDM Cup match against Ayr be moved to a neutral venue after it was again postponed. Falkirk apparently.
You can expect the same thing to happen to us if next Tuesdays rescheduled match doesn't make it, as it would be cutting it fine to get the match played before the Quarters. Would only be one other free midweek beforehand (between 21st-28th February), but could see the SFA taking the decision out of our hands.
At our expense of course.

I agree that there was no way the game was going to be played tonight based on the state of the pitch, but surely it has to be recognised that they can't publicly say anything about the game being called off until an official decision is made by the ref/SPFL. There will be channels the club have to go through before anything official can be announced. Surely that's not being disingenuous, that's just the club following protocol/the rules,

They could have easily told the truth and said they had grave concerns over the playability of the pitch and had requested a pitch inspection for the following day.
They made out however that the pitch was playable just yesterday.
I'm saying that was clearly bollocks. Or else why would they be telling the kiosk staff they weren't required with so much notice?
Anyway, I've said enough about the pitch. I highly doubt next Tuesdays game goes ahead, though I hope I'm wrong as it would cost the club a lot of money for it to be moved.

The pitch has never been right this season, even at the start it didn't look as good as last season.
I know we lost our grounds men to them across the road but why did they jump ship?
In my opinion they must have been offered a better wage package, did we try to keep them or did we wrongly think they could easily be replaced?
I hope it wasn't Ogren penny pinching because it could come back and bite his arse really quickly.

The club seem to be getting a lot wrong just now, but I don't think anyone looking at the picture yesterday and knowing it was due to rain solid for the rest of the day and all day today, suspected anything else than a postponement.
Which to me is why they showed the picture. It's playable! (wink wink) but lets wait and see what the pitch inspection says. Then again maybe i'm giving them too much credit and it's just another fuck up, but saying there's a pitch inspection let me know there was no chance.
There must be some sort of protocol introduced to protect fans, time to kick off, distance of travelling team/fans, because there so many variables to consider, even catering can run into 1000's, would you be comfortable eating a pie that was cooked and ready to reheat tonight on Saturday?
Anyone planning to head to Tannadice tonight, 1pm is maybe ok purely on the distance most out of town would travel, but there's so many other factors to consider, folk changing shifts, arranging child care, risk of public transport being off.
I'm all for telling the kiosk staff, "Guys don't bother tomorrow, but keep it under your hat, we need to officially announce that we've done all we can!"
I can only think that there's maybe set procedures to follow and given as above clubs are expected to travel against safety advice, which in turn means ground are open, allowing fans to travel /attend then is it something we need to look at?
i.e Greenock to Arbroath to play in farcical conditions the other week as an example.

Maybe our pitch is the classic elastoplast on a broken leg scenario, boys could move jobs, don't need to uproot family, even on the same wage it's better to be working on a newly laid surface, with proper drainage, than what our pitch has become.
This is just thinking out loud, I have no idea if that was the case.
I have heard someone say, and it could be untrue, that we don't have full-time groundstaff, they've shut golf courses in the town, there must be a surplus of groundskeepers kicking about?

I see the BBC have an article about our new goalkeeper enjoying being thrown in at the deep end......😁
