They are a good side but they are definitely not the best side in Austria they haven't even made top 3 in league for over 5 years I think it is, I also see alot of people say on x today they are as good as celtic, celtic would destroy them, rangers in Europe would probably beat them as well, not dissing them they are a very very decent side but definitely knowhere near as good as people are saying

When I said “Austria’s best side” I meant from a historical perspective. They have won more Bundesliga titles than any other team. I would point out that they beat the current champions, Sturm Graz last Sunday.

In terms of whether or not Celtic would “destroy” them is a moot point. Everyone has an opinion.

What is not in doubt is the Austrian Bundesliga has a higher coefficient than the SPL.

I do feel personally that in both games we played against Rapid we were vastly better than the draw we got last December at home to Celtic.

I was thinking similar about our performance against Celtic earlier when i was watching them vs Falkirk tonight. I’m thinking we could do them but then i remembered they love to turn it on against us. It’s not even paranoia anymore, they genuinely love to turn up and pump us.

Based on their performance over the 2 games I would say Rapid were at a better level than The Rangers and arguably at a similar level to Celtic.

Aye I'd agree with that - that team would give Celtic a right good run for their money.   They were excellent going forward in both games and have some very talented players.

I’m properly gutted and tbh can’t comment on the match itself.  We almost put Rapid Vienna out of Europe and were in the play offs. To a man i salute them, what an effort. I fear Sapsford is out for a while, what a game he had till ht.

That announcer should be sacked of his duties or resign immediately. He absolutely tried to make it all about himself and even the ref told him to turn it off. An absolute embarrassment which no doubt made an already nervous young Fatah even more nervous. I’ve always found that dode fox podcast to be weird.

If you think that Ronny left the music on longer on purpose then you are having a laugh.

He is fantastic at what he does, and his podcast is always a great listen. One mistake at an important time will hurt him more than anyone. To suggest he should be sacked is poor.

That possible mistake from him has potentially cost us millions mate.

Apparently his fuck up the other night never even got a mention, much less an apology on his podcast. Spineless worm, worse than a politician for dodging and trying to hide from his mistakes.

Re: Dundee United vs Rapid Vienna - Thursday 14/8/25

If Ronnie's mistake is worth him having to quit being the announcer, does the 'mistake' Stirton's made when he didn't score when he was one on one with the keeper mean he should quit his job?  Or should Iovu quit for not defending a cross better that led to their goal?

If you start to go down the route of calling for peoples heads when something bad happens, where does it stop?

It's your opinion, but I just can't see what good comes of it.

Did the Stirton miss show a total and intentional lack of respect for Fatah, the team, the club, the match, the paying punter and the referee?  If so, yes, sack the boy for failing to score.

The good to come from it is that the next announcer might not think it is all about him.

I'm no fan of Ronnie, if I'm honest but I find the calling for his head childish and way over the top.

Would you quit your job if you made an honest mistake?  Cos there is absolutely no proof that what happened was deliberate or anything other than a mistake.

Do you not think by the same logic that Ronnie will have learned from this mistake?  I think he will.

I assumed and hoped that things would die down given a bit of time, but clearly not.

Re: Dundee United vs Rapid Vienna - Thursday 14/8/25

Let's put this in context.  He's presumably not making a living from being the announcer at Tannadice so its not quite like most people's jobs.  It's presumably a bit on the side.  So people getting uppity about him being freed of his duties are swinging it too far the other way.

I don't however think this was an honest mistake.  Too much of a coincidence that he managed to stop the music right at the end of the chorus for that to be correct.  Also he manages to stop the music for kick offs etc. (as he did on the night in fact).  So I believe it was intentional.

Even if it was intentional I'd also accept if he had made an apology (and maybe he has to Jim and Amar).  That being the case he should also apologise to the fans (I go back to my disrespect comments).  It's not as if he doesn't have an ability to do that.  He has a pod-cast after all.

Whatever way you look at it, he's made a mistake (whether intentional or not) and he should apologise for that mistake.  He hasn't, and I go back to my original comment that if I were Jim he wouldn't be back in Tannadice, certainly not before an apology.

Also as I have said before, I didn't know his name before this incident, didn't know he had a podcast (never listened) and have never been bothered by his performance before (in fact I like Living Colour!) so I bring no prejudice as others, who clearly don't like him, have.  Notwithstanding that I'd like to hear an apology or a new announcer.

I ain’t calling for his head at all, it’s one mistake.

It’s more a question of why the fuck did he do it, and then be snarky to boys that called him out for it, and then to just completely ignore his major fuck up on his podcast. It totally sums him up as a person, an arrogant barsteward who thinks he’s above your ordinary United supporter.

The fact is, it definitely had an impact on the penalty shootout, so if he hadn’t fucked about and thought he was the main character on the night, the outcome of our European campaign might’ve been entirely different.

Re: Dundee United vs Rapid Vienna - Thursday 14/8/25

I did think it weird he never posted a small apology or even an explanation on Twitter. Instead he just seemed to post snippy replies to folk who were critical.

To then just blank it completely on his Podcast is bizarre.

A small explanation or better yet apology and the whole things put to bed. Strange move on his part.

P.s. i should add i have nothing against the guy btw. Him and Paul came and done a Q+A on here a few years ago when their podcast was in it's infancy and they were both good sports.

A few people on X have been calling for the return of Ruby to whip the crowd up. Presume she's long since retired but not a terrible idea.

Lose our 3rd Derby on the bounce and we'll not need Ruby to bring back the BOOS.
