Re: Pre season friendlies

Anyone who was there fancy a punt at reporting back about what they saw?

Aware it was a big mix of academy and first team and a few out of position as well but that's about it.

Thought Constable and Welsh looked decent, 2 new defenders are big units and on 1st showing Sapsford didn’t look much of a goal threat. 2nd half total non event.

Thought the young centre half first half was v good had a bit of sevelj about him, camara looked impressive as did young constable at RWB, the Aussie striker looks a lively should have had a few shots instead tried passing the ball, the usual suspects were decent Graham sibbald ferry etc trap looked brighter

esselink in second half along with LWB were v good- esselink looks a very good passer of the ball can’t think of a time when he lost possession , odadas passing in second half was MILES better than what we had been seeing from him in the past however think him playing right of a back three is a signal that he’ll be gone seem to remember grimshaw getting the same treatment at Brechin last year  albeit that was a very poor Brechin team.

Re: Pre season friendlies

Anyone know who the young left back was today in the 2nd half? He done well.

Both new centre backs look like they could be good, they both want to play out from the back and like a pass.

Keir Gilligan. Him and a few of the others on show today signed last summer:

Re: Pre season friendlies

Courier reporting that Owen Stirton left Brechin on crutches 🙁

Re: Pre season friendlies

Yeah, he took a heavy tackle on the ankle. The same boy who done it then nailed another Utd player straight after.

Too much commotion

Re: Pre season friendlies

Pretty much as said in previous threads, 2 new centre halves can play football but we’ll have to wait and see if they can defend as weren’t under any pressure today.

That is a real pisser and we have to now cross our fingers it's not bad and he wont miss too much of pre-season.

If there is any 'silver lining' to it (for want of a better phrase) it must surely now further speed up our search for a Striker or two.

Re: Pre season friendlies

The Brechin number 8 was on a mission to do someone and actually went through another player after the whistle went for his foul on Stirton

Re: Pre season friendlies

Cheers Mario and Mr X for updates.

I have a feeling that if we can't get rid of Odada then we'll probably try convert him to a backup centre back. This is based on nothing other than him being way too slow on the ball to play in midfield, and if we can't get rid then it's probably the only use we'll get out him.

Good to hear the young boys played well, even if Brechin aren't the strongest opposition.

Re: Pre season friendlies

No one had an armband on, either did graham in first half.

Re: Pre season friendlies

Who we thinking/wanting as captain? Id love to see graham as captain but due to his injury record we cant chance it after the Doc situation the last 2 seasons. Ferry and Sev have the right attitude but are they true leaders on and off the park?

Graham or Bert of the current squad. Captain probably hasn't been signed yet tho.

Still not sure if the captain has been signed yet but first choice for me would be Ross Graham.

Tbh id prefer players, especially foreign players to prove themselves for at least a year first before being made captain. Babunski never once looked like captain material to me last year, bit different if we're bringing in somone like a Gallacher or Docherty to be captain but ideally they will prove theyre a leader first

Would love to see it but
Goodwin must have doubts about his ability to play the majority of the games without getting a serious injury
