Leaving to head down south.

The turnover of these sort of positions at our club is mental
Unsure if it just our club or its just the sort of thing that happens in these positions

Disappointing that he lasted less than a year but hopefully a process is now in place where he can be replaced reasonably easily

We are looking at a huge turnover of playing staff again this summer. Him leaving now is far from ideal.

Take Jort with you - timewaster. Shambolic January window. Off ya pop.

Not bothered.
Odada
VDS
Meshack
Paton
Campbell
Fiorini
He's had his hand in as many failures as success's.
The club don't seem very adept at hiring people who genuinely want to be at the club long-term, and truly want to build something.

When you bring in as many players as we did last summer not every one will be a success. We are going to have one hell of a rebuilding job this summer when the loanee players return to their clubs. I also wouldn't be surprised for us to get good offers for Ferry and Sevelj.

Or maybe he is very good at his job and has been head hunted because of that.

Okay Michael.

He has obviously been offered more money to work somewhere else. Every single employee at the club would do the same.
That's how it works.

If you say so.
We'll just ignore the dross signings i've stated above.

I'd say the success rate should be higher than 50% of them being abject failures.

Too many of these boys (academy directors as well) barely last a year. I'm tempted to say these people make a career out of bailing out before they are ever held to account.

Good point.
Reading the press release it seems he's going to be heavily involved in our summer recruitment before leaving.
Allegedly...

Obviously the guy tasked with recruitment leaving as we approach a big staff turnover isn't ideal, however let's look at our signings in the summer.
Only Ferry and Sevelj were players no-one would've heard of, two crackers puled out of nowhere.
Stephenson, Adeboyega, Dalby, were all players that agents would've been offering around to anyone, Walton we knew of, Strain as well, Babunski's name carried a bit of weight.
Then we're down to the unknowns - Trapanovski, Jort, Meshack, Odada.
And we can't let January pass without comment = Jeezy Peeps!
It's hardly water into wine, or even a rabbit out of a hat stuff, maybe the severed finger trick you use on kids, at best, however, if we make top six, get a crack at qualifying for Europe, then we could say as a squad, a rebuild and progress it's been a job well done.

Him being involved in the next window's recruitment is the only gutting news about this

He doesn’t seem to stay long at any club.

I don’t see how. The players recruited last summer have had us in a top six position for most of the season.

They players have also bottled it against the fun TWICE and are currently hurtling us towards bottom 6 - proved when the chips are down they are bottlejobs. Wahoo, roll on another influx of dross in the summer

I think that’s exactly it. He was never an employee (as far as I am aware)? He was a freelance agent, who was working exclusively for Dundee Utd. I actually think he did a really good job, but, a bigger club has offered him something better.
It is correct to say that the turnover of staff is unbelievable in these positions. Adam Asghar left us for a job at Sunderland. He then left there to go to Southampton . He’s now at Celtic. Ultimately I guess that he is talented.
My feeling is that, we are going to struggle to find a decent replacement.

Every club is in the same boat when it comes to these positions. It's a career ladder.

We'll make some good appointments, we'll make some bad appointments. It's just the way it is.
If folk move about regularly in this type of role, then there is a decent chance we will stumble across a decent replacement.
For folk to say he's been great or crap at his job is pure conjecture. We don't know if we signed all or any of the players this guy suggested or if Goodwin overruled them. He was part of a team that worked on signing players, with the buck stopping at the manager, I guess. No one knows how a player will settle or perform at a particular club until they have their boots on the ground at the club.
I'm happy to wait and see who we sign in the summer and how we start next season before making judgement.
