The opposition have a last minute penalty. You can pick any United Goalie from the past (or present) to go in goals.
What Keeper are you putting between the sticks to try and save the day?

Hamish the Goalie

Billy Thomson

Saved very few penalties but did make a vital one in the Scottish Cup final

If we're 4-0 up I'm subbing the keeper and giving the gloves to Heggy 😄

My choice.
Not the best Goalie we ever had, but did save a few pens including one in a Derby behind a Shedful of baying BNB's.

The nominations are - Alan Main, The Mad Monk, Billy Thomson, Donald McKay and The Goalie.
If we announce the winner tomorrow it'll still be quicker than that fuk'n Strictly shite.

Us too. All in the 1st half which makes it more remarkable. I think there was an ex-United player missed one of them?

If I remember correctly, Nicky Weaver was decent at penalty saves.

I forgot about him, he was a decent goalie for us.
Just looked him up, only played 18 games, was he a bit of an emergency signing or something?
Btw Alan Main was a very special goalie. I had him as unbeatable. Made of rubber.

The Battle of Tynecastle 1987. Billy Thomson was magnificent.
Watch this from the kick off. They play a long ball into our goalmouth. John Brown rushes in on the bounce of the ball into BT's arms with his leg extended 90 degrees aiming or should I say maiming at our goalie. The ref does award a foul, calls Brown over & demonstrates why the foul by extending his leg at 90 degrees. No booking, just a warning. Straight from the kick-off. Idea was to take our goalie out. I was there, it was brutal the whole 90 mins, they started it but our response was magnificent, we just got harder but we got harder fairly, their tackles were flying in. We won 3-2. Brilliant game but not for the feint hearted, these days there would have been double figure bookings & 3 or 4 sendings-off for them. The Fun were filthy but only 3 yellows. There should have been a sending off in the first minute.

Yeah, I think he was a stop gap keeper/short term signing only - Levein era, i think. I hoped we would keep him on a longer deal.

Nicky Clark and Paul McMullan missed for them.

Eh ?
Nicky Clark miss a pen ? Surely no.
I seem to recall McMullan scoring headed goal for us that game.
..... Don't quote me.

McMullan definitely missed a penalty. . . . And a good few penalties for United also.

Hardly.
Here he is getting Panenka'd by Ally McCoist.
At the Tennents Sixes.

How many teams was Paul McMullan playing for?

I don't think really ever had a keeper that has been great at saving penalties.
Off topic a little however the very last person I would pick would be Zaluska, hopeless.
Nae wonder Paton gave him it.

Hands down, the worst I have ever seen at attempting to save penalties was Benjamin Siegrist. Absolutely god awful.
