Tough game on Saturday against the team i reckon are most underrated in the Premiership. That said, we've defeated them twice this season already, so no reason why we can't hopefully make it win number three of the season against the Buddies.
What XI and formation?
Online!
Back to three at the back to counter to match them for height.
I thought Docherty was excellent against them through in Paisley and will be a miss as we really need to win the battle in the middle.
Stephenson back in the middle and I fancy Odada will get his first start beside Sevelj.
Babunski in the 10 role with big Sam.

Tight match. They are big, strong and have some pace. Kind of Scottish team I hate tbh.
Two tight wins against them this season by playing our tallest players, matching them physically, keeping it tight and hoping we have slightly more quality in front of goal.
Same again please. If we can win next two games, which we should be aiming for as they are at home, then it starts to look like we will have a really decent season.

Back to the XI that started against Ross County for me.

A really important 3 points.
We have so much application determination and will to win.
A scrappy and at times annoying performance, we'll probably play better sometime and lose.
Good decision to bring on VdS and Moult, yet again the in game changes gave us the lift we needed.
P3 W3 v them, we're getting it more right than wrong.
If we can defeat Killie it would give us a great platform going into the busy schedule ahead.
Looking forward to seeing Kristijan Trapanovski back too.

A deserved 3 points for me.
They had plenty of the ball and a good few corners but we had all the best chances.
M.O.M.was between Gallagher, Sevelj & Stephenson but I will go for Gallagher as Walton didn't have a save of note to make all afternoon.

Agree with Still living, a well deserved three points.
Our Center half's would header their granny if it came into our box and that mob just kept on lobbing it in for 90 mins.
I've seem it back and I don't know what they clowns on the BBC are going on about, they two pens are stick ons, maybe got a wee point on Walton.
Sevelj and Stephenson also never backed down from that team of hammer throwers and played some decent stuff when allowed to.
Another Saturday, another 3 points, roll on Killie.

A very strange gehm IMO.
We shoulda had 4 before we got the (1st) Pen.
1st half
Dalby doesna square it to Middleton and boots it up in the air.
Ferry's torpedo aff the post.
2nd half
Babunskis scuff straight the keeper.
Holts miss to the right.
Didna think the 1st half was up to much. We sat aff them a lot esp the last 12 mins and gave them too much oe the ba.
2nd half much better, esp. efter the subs.
A great 3 points.
MOTM for me Gallagher.

Great 3 points if not a great performance.
3 centre backs defended very well throughout and Walton had very little to do (apart from smash the boy!).
One thing that struck me today was how good our loan signings have been. All 4 have contributed massively - Walton, Adeboyega, Stephenson and Dalby. Will be sorry to see them leave at the end of the season and think they’ll all go on to have very good careers. Fair play to Goodwin and his recruitment guy for bringing them in though, to get 4/4 successes on loan is a tremendous hit rate when you consider some of the dross we’ve had from down south on loan previously!!
Also, is Sevelj and Stephenson now our best pairing in midfield? Will Sibbald and Docherty be back up once they’re fit? I think that may be the case, Sevelj been fantastic these last 3 games and with Strain playing well at RWB you have to find room for Stephenson in the team somewhere.

Just deserved win today but we’ll take it. I reckon Walton was lucky to stay on the pitch. Aye Olusanya’s going away from goal by no way is Walton in control but get it right up them. Both pen decision’s were correct but Fraser could’ve just been yellowed imo. We defended very well today. I wasn’t too sure on Holt and Gallagher playing this season but fair play they’ve both played really well. Ryan Strain has really solidified our back line. Takes the pressure off our midfield, reckon that’s why we’ve seen a good spell for Sevelj. 8100 home fans roughly today, great crowd again.
We’re just going under the radar plugging away. The papers, media and every other club had us down for relegation and after most games this season “not that good Dundee United” are getting the better of most teams currently. Let’s just keep that going.
Kilmarnock at home next, whilst nothing is a giving, 3pts would be massive again.

Only seen the Sportscene highlights.
Definitely looked a little fortunate to keep Walton on the pitch, seen lots of reds given for those type of challenges. Goalies get away with murder compared to other outfield players.
That aside, i thought we looked like we deserved to win a hard fought contest. Didn't create much, but neither did they. They must be sick of the sight of us because we have 7 clean sheets this season and 3 of them are against St.Mirren.
Pretty delighted with that result because i think St.Mirren are a decent side and will trouble many teams in the league. To beat them three times in a row shows we have something about us.
I was a bit worried with our end to October, the negative display and result at Pittodrie and the self-inflicted defeat at Tannadice to Motherwell, but credit where it's due, our November form has been solid.
An away point at both Easter Road and Ibrox and two good home win and clean sheets against County and St.Mirren.
A very tough schedule coming up now throughout December and up until the Derby at Dens on January 2nd. We will need our injuries and suspensions to be kind to us as we have a limited squad numbers wise, but it's great to start to believe that we won't be a walk over anymore regardless of the XI.
Though, it is still fairly early days in the season and Goodwin is entirely correct to temper expectations post-match (his Aberdeen were 3rd and almost in a Cup Final about this time of year, few weeks later he was on the dole). He knows how quickly it can all turn sour as he wisely stated in his Post-matcher.
Lastly, what a fucking photo of big Manny this is. Absolute class.

We won the toss, that's all I'm saying.

I think it was a red card for Jack.
No penalty for Kevin.
A penalty for Louis.
A massive 3 points for us.
Disappointed with Glenn yesterday as seen all our loan signings throwing themselves into tackles, fighting for the ball and not afraid to put there heads in and didn’t see the same commitment from him.

Ok, a 10 pointer -
1) Impressed with St Mirren manager's post match comments
2) St Mirren can count themselves very unlucky but remember Curtis Main
3) An improved performance by us is required for the Killie game
4) Guess Glenn Middleton will sit the next one out
5) We have a right good squad on our hands, whisper it but we can cover injuries
6) Gallagher is a very good centre half
7) The enhanced half-time draw needs a bit of work
8) Matthew MacDermid is my favourite ref
9) We still go backwards rather than forwards far too often
10) Attendances are on the up, at this rate we can get 10,000 for average games

Couldn’t make game yesterday but that is a terrific win.
Walton tackle is borderline imo, if he gets a red by the ref I don’t think it gets overturned by VAR
1st pen, is really soft but probably pen.
2nd is never a pen for me, Louis just throws himself to the floor 🤣
Anyway who cares, we’re doing really well atm, well done Goodwin & team

Another good win. We just seem to find a way to pick up points in these tight matches. More late goals again.
Don’t think anyone would complain much if Walton was sent off. The touch towards the corner flag is probably what saved him. Both penalties, for me, are not penalties. Would be raging if they were given against us. That is Hibs and St Mirren we have gotten a little bit of luck. Let’s hope it doesn’t even out.
Also, great set of results for us with all the teams around about us losing points except rangers.

We defended very well, I think. They threw a lot of crosses in our box and we dealt with every one. They've got pace upfront and bar the Walton incident (which was a red card) we managed it. They are a decent side, but little cutting edge. Not sure if they are just a bit blunt or we defend very well but I'd say more of the latter.
Thought we were poor up front today. Both Dalby and Ferry should have squared for Middleton for tap ins. The latter had a poor game, but he was in the right position for a brace and we'd be talking very differently if he'd bagged a couple. For me Manny, Holt, Gallagher and Sevelj were the players of the game (Holt MoM about right given he managed to get forward and arguably win the game) - bar the Walton kung fu challenge, he had nothing to do, bar one easy save.
As for the pens, both soft, but both pens. Holt's one boy goes for the ball, misses and kicks Holt. Pen all day long - doesn't matter that Holt has his studs up. He's not challenging anyone. Second, Moult totally plays for it, but the boy panics, gets on the wrong side and makes contact. He's also last man, so if it is a foul then its a red. I'd be gutted to lose those but I don't think the Buddies can complain. Walton on the other hand...
Thought Robinson was very measured after the game. I think they'll be top six and that shows how good we've been.
For me Goodwin got lucky with the subs. They had nothing to do with the first pen or the second goal. Granted Moult wins the second, but that's not tactics. Moult needs to teach Dalby some of the dark arts!
Some save from their keeper for the second by the way. Ok he guessed he was going to put it in the same place, but it wasn't a bad pen.

Both penalties are fouls, the first one falls into that category where anywhere else on the pitch it's a foul, but for some reason there's a different logic applied to contact in the box.
The second one, there's a picture from the George Fox side where you can see the guy has a full fist of Moult's shirt, it was daft as fuck from their him as he'd already made an arse of things when he let Moult in front of him.
The Walton one, if there was such a thing as yellow and a half, i'd go with that, it looks worse than it was in real time, when slowed down, he just about makes the ball and hangs a leg to foul the boy, it's high, but not malicious, just clumsy.
Compare it to the lunge from Gogic last week, that was a given as a red but overturned, Walton doesn't lunge in two footed, Gogic I felt was a bit naughty there, and although he won the ball, I thought there was no need to go in like that at all.
Folk say they wouldn't complain if he was off, I was ready to just go home if he was,
Given the penalties awarded v us in previous seasons, Curtis Main, Shankland 2-2 game, the fact Craig Gordon was able to thunder into Fletcher, almost wreck what was left of his career, then Trapanovski being wiped out v Dundee and then penalty we should've had, I'll gladly accept any decision that comes our way no matter how soft.
Bonus points for the fact it seemed to really rile rent a gobs like Michael Stewart and the soggy biscuit rugby cunt.

Let's be honest. If either of those penalties are given against us our supporters are up in arms and we're probably saying it's a conspiracy if they're given against either of the Old Firm. Same with Walton's challenge. If that's say Kasper Scmeichal, we're saying the ref bottled it.
For the first time ever we seem to be getting a lot of soft calls in our favour.
The late penalty at Rugby Park.
The late penalty at Easter Road.
The two penalties on Saturday and the Walton challenge.
I will take it as I could rhyme off countless decisions against us over the years, but maybe a reminder that pens are given for absolutely fuck these days, the next time we inevitably get one given against us. Which will be soon.

I think what we need to remember here is that VAR is supposed to be getting penalties and big decisions right. I'd venture that that is exactly what it does. It is us football fans and pundits that make (often highly biased) judgement calls on whether something is 'soft' or 'wouldn't have even been a foul in the good old days'. Whether our pens that Tek mentions above were soft or not, in terms of the rules, they were pens. Some will go against us, but as long as they are the right decision can we complain? If nothing else it should take the west coast bias out of refereeing decisions.
Offline
As Finn has pointed out above.
What we also have to remember as well though is that VAR upheld the Walton on-field decision, then VAR said to the ref, "Have a look, that's maybe a pen!" re the Holt one and the ref could've upheld his decision, which was, he never seen a foul.
Then on the next pen, VAR only got involved to say to the ref "That should be a red!"
What pundits are doing and often we as fans do is state an opinion like it's a fact, allow emotions to play a part.
The ref and his VAR team apply the laws of the game, if 2 refs and X amount of assistants agree then it's probably right.
A soft foul is a still a foul.
Also we're due a lifetime of calls against this lot for being robbed in 87.

The problem with those points though is that the ref and VAR officials are just applying their interpretation of the laws as well. That is why a lot of VAR is a waste of time. So it’s very far from simple. I think all 3 decisions were wrong. But the biggest thing is that none of them are even close to being clear and because of that the ref’s original decisions should have stood and not been questioned by VAR. it was meant to sort out things like if a ball crossed the line. That is not how it is being used.
