Googled.

There is actually a Middleton, a small hamlet in Perth/Kinross.

No places called Mackay or Carlyle, that i could find.

There’s a Middleton in Midlothian as well, just south of Gorebridge.

Going off topic slightly, but always been a huge fan of Clint Eastwood.

Always noticed in films going back many years his own film production company is called 'Malpaso Films'.

Looked into it a long time ago and he named it after Malpaso Creek, an area of land he bought to live in Carmel-By-The-Sea, California.

A beautiful place where he shot his film 'Play Misty For Me' at. And has also been the shooting location for other classic films like 'The Graduate', 'Vertigo' and 'Basic Instinct'.

It's also home to the famous Pebble Beach Golf course.
