following Utd

Seems to be a good few older lads on here and a euro tours post on mad got me thinking how good a laugh ive had away to see us so where have you all outside Scotland to see Utd either pre-season or in Europe?
Preseason - Plymouth, Wigan, Leeds, Belfast, Dublin, Berlin, Utrecht.
Europa games - Athens, Wroclaw, Moscow.

Only 26 wish i was older to have made the 80s/90s euro tours.

Re: following Utd

TBH I have a shocking record of following United around Europe, I quite simply haven't been to see them for one reason or another and I say it every year "hope we get a good tie in Europe next season" and fail to go.

Hear their shout, hear their roar
They've probably had a barrel of ale and much, much more
Hooray, hooray, hooray, yeah
Over the hill went the swords of a thousand men

Re: following Utd

None of the above, was too young for the 80s away days and in the last stretch of Euro games there's always been something got in the road. Roll on this year hopefully, keeping some holidays back this year, as longs the money's there I'll be there.

Re: following Utd

Unfortunately I was just a kid in the 80's and early 90's and by the time I was old enough and had the money to go abroad to see Utd in Europe in the late 90's and early 00's were were shite and never qualified.  Of course by the time we started getting back there (2010-12) I've got the wife and kids and can't afford it! Nightmare.

That is exactly my situation mate, have managed to continue to keep supporting the team at hame games and get to a few away games each year. My son is 4 and took him this season so hoping he gets the bug and is my life ticket to all things shed.

Re: following Utd

Biggest regret Bowers was not making the Monchengladbach away game when I was 12. Too young to go alone and didn't run away.
It was only £45  for bus and ticket return bud.

Re: following Utd

Lost count on away trips!

First was Anderlecht - most recent was The Dam for pre-season.

Tekel times - every trip!

A couple o  things - I mind after beating Roma 2-0 in the first leg chapping doon the bank manager's door for a bankloan for the Cup Final. Ended up on a bender for a month wi the money coz it wisna needed!

Biggest regret was missing Gothenburg away coz I had nae holidays left and, working with a bluechip company at the time, gettin extra days aff wisna an option and I was too much o a bottle merchant to go off on the sick coz they would have known where I was!

Very true, I'm happy to say. 45 minutes across the city by bus, but I took a taxi instead.
