JOKER

This looks pretty good. Joker was always the most interesting baddie.

Incidentally, is that big staircase he's dancing on not in Edinburgh? Looks very familiar.

Re: JOKER

You're maybe thinking of the steps close to Waverley Station, Tek: think the film was shot entirely in and around New York.

These stairs are probably in Brooklyn.

Trailer looks great!

Looks like it's based on the graphic novel The Killing Joke(which is tremendous btw). Get a small feeling of "they're doing it for the money" though. Hopefully I'm wrong(usually am--except about Siegrest!)

Re: JOKER

early signs are Phoenix will be a great choice.

as he’s a ‘bit off’ in real life.

this film looks like The Crow meets Falling Down meets Taxi Driver

Re: JOKER

This is getting 5 star reviews all across the board.

Looking forward to seeing this.

Phoenix looks like being a great cast as early Joker.

Re: JOKER

Seen the film earlier today: highly recommend it.

See that scene on the steps, shown in the trailer........Rock and Roll Part Two (Glitter/Leander) is used on that bit, around the 90 minute mark, causing 'controversy'. But I reckon folk are just looking for something to complain about, in that case. It's been used in many films previously.

Re: JOKER

Seen it last night. Fantastic. Some controversial things story-wise. The breakdown of society is scarily relevant today.

Too much commotion

Re: JOKER

Phoenix is incredible. If he doesn't win an Oscar it's a travesty.

Re: JOKER

Joker 2 trailer out.

Like the first movie, the influences are very obvious.

1st Joker (Taxi Driver, Falling Down etc)

2nd Joker (La La Land)

Re: JOKER

Just been reading about it and it's a musical?? A bit of a risk there.

Re: JOKER

Watched it at the weekend. I usually try to ignore the reviews and reactions and make my own mind up about films but they were spot on with this one. Absolutely Tom Kite. Maybe due to liking the first one so much? But this was honking. I should say that I hate musicals apart from a rare few like Blues Brothers. One of the worst movies I’ve seen in a while. Self indulgent pish.

Re: JOKER

Just watched the sequel there. Awful. As bad a film as I've seen. I reckon the director and cast really thought they were making something that was high art.

Read that the director wanted to make just the first one as a standalone movie but was pushed to make the sequel. So he's like "Right. You want a sequel? Here you go."

And it's a big twos up to the comic book fans, DC fans etc.
