Utd's only ever (friendly) game against Man City was over 60 years ago.
What (or who) was 'unusual' about a player in Man City's side?

Bert Trautman, played on the the cup final after getting a very Nazi injury?
Or was their number 7 a really 'Old Man'?

The brother of their number 3 was assassinated in Dallas in 1963 and was himself killed in a hotel in California in 1968?
(I'll get my coat and see myself out)

Was the keeper not the guy that played on in a game where he broke his neck?

Bert Trautmann too obvious so I'll go for Wagstaffe - first player to be sent off in the English Leagues.

Bert Trautmann fought for the Nazi's in WW2 as a Paratrooper.
He was eventually captured by the British and sent to a POW camp in Lancashire. Upon the end of the War he was offered repatriation and eventually settled in the local area.
He started playing as a Goalie for local side St.Helens and his outstanding displays soon drew admiring glances from Pro clubs.
Manchester City's decision to sign a former Nazi drew mass protests from their support with around 20,000 fans marching against the decision. His displays in goal soon won round the support however and he cemented his place in the clubs history when he played in the 1956 FA Cup Final.
City beat Birmingham City 3-1 with Trautmann making crucial saves in the second half despite earlier in the match picking up what looked like a serious injury.
Hospital scans subsequently showed he played on with a broken neck.
In 2018 a film was made about his life 'The Keeper'.
