Re: 30 years ago today

30 years ago roughly about now I went for a pish, toilet was rammed full of nervous fans chain smoking and bracing themselves for a heartache that was never to come.

The next 20 mins took an absolute eternity and the celebration that followed went far too quick.

An amazing day that I took for granted as a teenager,  I genuinely thought we would challenge for the title in 94/95.

Gordon Petric and Brian Welsh that day we're immense.

Re: 30 years ago today

What a cup run. I’ve got the tickets from every game including the Arbroath one. As with the league win at Dens I was there with a certain Pigdenis of UnitedMad fame 😂

What a year 94 was btw. The cup win, Oasis debut album, The Stone Roses return, I turned 20 at the end of it.

It's not where you're from it's where you're at.

Even that one or two month period from Apr~May

Kurt Cobain suicide (5th April)
Oasis debut single (11th April)
Utd beating Aberdeen and Rangers at Hampden (9th+12th April v Aberdeen, 21st May v Rangers)

Fucking whirlwind. I miss my youth.

I also miss the bit of mystery and surprise about the past and supporting a club, and i know i say that as a massive hypocrite running a Football Forum. But i remember my huge surprise seeing 'Rover'  emblazoned on our top that day as we walked out.

The days before the internet and us all knowing everything days/weeks/months in advance.

Re: 30 years ago today

I had seen us lose the previous six Scottish Cup finals. + hardly missed a home game in that 20 years.
Very like Canadian but not so far had moved out of the country late 1992 and was unable to get a ticket for final.
Felt a bit robbed about that and still do as I think about it now.

Same for me mate.  I was a massive Nirvana fan, Kurt was discovered on the 8th, the day before we played Aberdeen in the semi.  I had bought two Nirvana 10" singles form HMV in the Muraygate that day and then saw the news of him being found on the news that night.

Supersonic released on the Monday - a sliding doors moment in my youth that weekend - I was 19.

Re: 30 years ago today

I always recall my old man telling me 2 things about that final:

1) Guido’s save from Mykhaylychenko right after we scored.

2) The Celtic fans in the streets celebrating after the game because we stopped the treble.
