Kris Boyd

See were linked with him yet AGAIN.Maybe just lazy journalism but if there is any truth in it would you want him at Tannadice?NO THANKS from me.I would have taken him in a heartbeat just a few months ago but he's turned us down flat 2 summer's in a row.You shouldn't get a 3rd chance to join Utd imo.

Would you take Boyd at Tannadice?

Re: Kris Boyd

No, but not cos he's turned us down, cos he's not what we need.

Re: Kris Boyd

Would command a fair sum wgaes wise. Think he still has uses, but he has snubbed us twice, so would always feel like was just with us to keep the money ticking over.

Re: Kris Boyd

I'm going yes IF he can get to the standard of last season, forget the Hun balls that goes with it he can score goals, goals win games! remember a certain William Dodds coming from the sheep no getting a game and being too fat was dynamite for us!

He would also be cup tied for both cups though.

Realistically our best chance of success.

Seems a bit daft when we need a forward in to sign one who cannae play in 2/3rds of the tournaments were competing in.

Though it would be the same with Billy McKay i suppose.

Re: Kris Boyd

He's broke my heart 3 times

once lying on a beach in Spain when some cunt came over and told me he'd scored 5 for Kilmarnock against us -i got pissed to soothe then pain ,fell asleep on the beach got sunburnt -then spent the rest of the night in a cold bath-some nice person texted to say Billy Dodds scored twice so 5-2 wasn't as bad i thought it was 5-0.

Then the Mark Kerr game -i'm saying no more about that one.

Then at ibrox - i was in attendance that night -jesus christ we made Madjid Bougherra look like fucking Bobby Moore.

Re: Kris Boyd

I'd be a naw. Too much risk. Too much money.

He's also turned us down the past two seasons allegedly, so for that alone. Naw!

Re: Kris Boyd

The word on the pavy is he's signed a pre contract with United. Available to play in July. TBH I would be surprised

Re: Kris Boyd

Scores goals....would prefer a lightning quick direct striker...think we'd put the shiters up teams if we got that...nadir is class but imo drops deep, takes to many touches...gets away with it at times due to brillianceimagine GMS and Armstrong turning on the after burners and we had a direct striker as quick

i voted aye but then changed my mind, your right mate he has turned us down two years in a row but also think he seems to have lost his sharpness in the last 6 month, remember take away hearts n hibs and basically rangers are playing against pub teams every week yet he still cant score a goal and looks very unfit though part of me thinks if jackie got him fit and confident again he could bang them in again the way he did at killie only last year

Re: Kris Boyd

I'd take him. He's the top scorer in SPL/SPFL history, sure he's not looking sharp right now but he was excellent with Killie last season.

We need a second striker, Mario appears to be a write off and if we can get Boyd on a free on an 18 month contract I'd be delighted.

He's the B in plan B.

Re: Kris Boyd

I'd take him in a heartbeat.

That team he's playing in just now are dire. No creativity, no spark.

Boyd would thrive in a confident, free flowing team. He's a better player than people give him credit for as well. Very good at holding it up and bringing others into play. He knows the role of lone striker. Far from past it at 31 as well.

With flair players we have in behind (GMS, Armstrong, Nadir, Connolly, Telfer, Erskine, Dow) he'd get chances galore.

Incidentally, I couldn't give a monkeys if he's knocked us back fifteen times. Different if he'd messed us about.

you could be correct mate he is a natural finisher and thrives on confidence, and in him knocking us back twice i sort of get his reasons firstly he is an ayrshire lad so knocking us back for killie fair enough if it was for family reasons to be nearer them and settled etc, going back to rangers well as much as i hate them i suppose you cant blame him as he was offered a contract of around ten grand per week according to reports and he is also a rangers fan, maybe 3rd time lucky? if he did come does anyone know if he is cuptied for both cups?

When you put into perspective like that it does seem like a good idea. Take out Mario and replace with Boyd. Yeah, I'd go for that but need him now.

Exactly mate, you couldn't grudge him either of those moves. Both totally understandable if we take off the tangerine specs.

If he got back his previous form, I think it would be the difference between 2nd and potentially 4th or 5th.

Yeah, he'd be cup-tied for both cups which does take the shine off it a bit. Why is that a rule though? Daft. You're allowed to play in the league for two different clubs. Why not a cup?

I think he is the type o player we need - proven goalscorer.

Just no sure if he would be the one I would go for.

Would cost a few bob. Think McKay would be a cheaper and better option.

Re: Kris Boyd

One thing i will say is i keep reading Utd fans say 'oh we'd need to change our style to accomodate him,no thanks'.We wouldn't.

He played the lone striker for Kilmarnock (who also play a 4-2-3-1) last season and as we all know scored 22 goals. You could say he plays that role better than he does playing in Sevco's 4-4-2.

I still reckon it won't happen tbh.

But last night showed again for me that we could do with another forward.Jackie has no forward option to bring off the bench.I've kind of gave up on Bilate already.Think his hammy's are knackered. Not sure he's that good either.
