Re: Utd vs Dunfermline - Saturday 12th August

watching the game at the weekend and noticed something about the difference between Meekinson and Sibbald.   Most of the time in possession Sibbald was on the move, looking for space to give an option or maybe create space for others, at times Meekinson seemed very static and happy to stand in between to opposition players meaning he was not an option and also very easy to pick up by the opposition.

Not saying Sibbald is anything special but Meekinson needs to look at the difference and raise his effort levels.  Could this be due to the number of non competitive games played by the under 21s.

We got out of jail on saturday and agree there were a lot of players who seemed to be off the boil

i just don't think he (Meekison) is very good.

Sibbald has played the same way for years, going back to his Falkirk days.

When he was younger than Meekison.

certainly Meekison and Glass havnt played many competitive games in the last few years. Mochrie played 36 games last season in that Pars team and Kia played half a season with Stirling.

Re: Utd vs Dunfermline - Saturday 12th August

Just thinking about situation with academy laddies, I'd have to say thus far the system's been something of a failure.
Somebody on here said we're breeding technical ability with nae bite - never a truer word.
It's a big worry,  because if they were ever going to really threaten oppositions, be a bitty arrogant, take the pisser, niggle and get in about diddy division carthorses they should have been doing it lang syne.
Failing that what's the good of them ?
(I'd exclude Duffy, Graham and Glass)
I'd query continually forgiving them with the "graduate" ,  "laddie" cliches. What's the average age of Mathieson, Mochrie, Fotheringham, McLeod, Clamers etc...  is the average age o them that young ?
Mebbe 18 +   ?

You're opposition manager (obviuosly we should always be setting out a team on it's own merits) but by the same token say you're opposing manager looking at our bench Saturday, there's none ae them filling you with  with the fears.

- What does that say about our much vaunted and I dare say pricey academy ?

- Leaves us out there looking for match fit signings pronto - yet again I'm scratching ma heid.
- Good thing is we've struck on a manager who actually recognises them problem, and that we have a fortnights break.
- Fingers crossed
